The Truth About Chasing “Happy”
Sometimes people think “happy” is a finish line you cross. But in this business, it’s more like a mirage. You chase it, you reach for it—then the phone rings, a new deadline pops up, another customer’s dream car needs a miracle. And you answer, every time, no matter the hour or what’s already on your plate.
We take on more than we should, more than is healthy, because making customers happy is what we do. We’ll bend over backwards, work late, skip breaks, and pour extra hours into every build—no matter the cost to ourselves or the shop. It’s not just about cars. It’s about people and promises.
But the truth is, sometimes the weight gets heavy. Juggling projects, meeting deadlines, trying to be present for family, and still finding a moment to breathe—it wears thin on the soul. There are days the pressure is crushing, and “happy” feels a million miles away.
Still, we keep going. Because at the end of the day, seeing a customer’s face light up when they see their dream car—that’s a kind of happiness that can’t be bought. We’re not chasing easy wins. We’re building relationships, one project, one late-night phone call at a time.
If you’ve ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes, this is it: real people, real struggles, real dedication. We do it for the love of the craft and the people who trust us with their dreams—even when it costs us more than anyone sees.

After 40 years of waiting, today was the day Mr. Larry got to back his Chevelle out of our shop—his dream, reborn. We’ve poured hours into recreating his car just like he remembered from the good old days, and seeing his excitement reminds us why we do what we do. It’s not just about the cars; it’s about the people, the stories, and the moments we get to bring back to life. I’m so grateful for every customer who trusts us with their memories. We aren’t quite finished yet, but soon Mr. Larry and his wife will be running the roads again, reliving a piece of their past. At JABZ Kustoms, we don’t just build cars—we build dreams and refresh memories. ❤️

At JABZ Kustoms, you might think it’s all about the cars. But the truth is, the real story here isn’t the metal, the paint, or the horsepower—it’s the people. The guys in this shop are the heartbeat of everything we do. Without them, there are no dream builds, no satisfied customers, and no JABZ Kustoms.
I believe in investing in my team—not just for the business, but for their lives. Every project that rolls through our doors is a team effort, and every win we celebrate is because of their hard work, their passion, and their commitment. That’s why I make it a point to check in with each of them, every week, one-on-one. I want to know how they’re doing, what they need, and how I can help them succeed—not just as employees, but as people.
Because at the end of the day, you can have the best tools and the wildest builds, but if you don’t have a team you trust and care about, what do you really have? These guys mean everything to me and to this company. They’re family. Their well-being comes before any car, any project, any profit.
