Today I am posting almost the last of my fliers I have in my gallery for this week: September 29th - October 4th. It is the last of some of the ones that went throughout the Summer.

One Charger Name—Two Unrelated Muscle Cars 🇦🇺🇧🇷

“Charger R/T” immediately brings Detroit to mind—but in the early 1970s, Chrysler was building two very different interpretations of that name thousands of miles away from America.

🇦🇺 1972 Chrysler Valiant Charger R/T E49 — Australia

Australia’s E49 took an unusual route to muscle-car performance. Instead of a V8, it used the legendary 265-cu-in (4.3L) Hemi Six, fed by triple Weber carburetors and producing 302 bhp and 320 lb-ft. A 4-speed manual sent everything to the rear wheels. Only 149 E49s were produced, and period testing established the Charger as one of Australia's formidable homegrown performance cars.

🇧🇷 1973 Dodge Charger R/T — Brazil

Brazil's Charger was something completely different. Rather than sharing the Australian fastback—or the contemporary American Charger—it evolved from Chrysler's Brazilian Dodge Dart family. Under the hood sat the familiar 318-cu-in (5.2L) LA V8, rated locally at 215 CV, with roughly 310 lb-ft of torque and a 4-speed manual. Its concealed-headlamp grille, vinyl roof and Charger R/T trim transformed the Dart-based coupe into one of Brazil's distinctive muscle cars.

Same corporation. Same famous Charger R/T badge. Two countries—and two completely different answers to the muscle-car question.
Which international Charger would you take home: Australia's screaming triple-Weber Hemi Six E49 or Brazil's 318 V8 R/T?
