He is a long time member and past President of the Iowa Manufactured Housing Association and member of the Wisconsin Manufactured Housing Association. He has formed the roots that has helped this company grow to one of the top choices for home buyers today by providing quality homes for every budget and providing service that is second to none. Gerald and Rose not only raised their family around the business, but also in one of the homes built by Horkheimer Homes. He always said, “You have to believe in what you sell”. In October of 2012, Gerald decided it was time to pass on the torch to his youngest son . Chip started working for him sweeping under the saw bench and building steps for a dollar a piece back in 1990! Chip worked his way up through the business in the service department, installing homes, heating and air conditioning. Then after schooling Chip got into the sales side of the business. He does not like to consider himself a salesman, but rather a professional tour guide for the homes which he feels sell themselves. Chip and his wife Mindy now hope to carry on the torch to providing the best quality homes and service this industry can provide. They too raise their four children in a home built by Horkheimer Homes and would prefer no other. Chip still remains a ” Tour Guide” and Mindy does all the staging in the 15 – 20 new homes on the sales center. As the original owners, they raise their family around the business, and from time to time you may see one of their little ones sitting behind the desk training to be the next generation in the family business.
