Throwback Thursday to one of the earliest Unplugged Performance demo builds.

This Deep Blue Metallic Tesla Model S P85D featured a full UP carbon fiber aero kit, bespoke interior, and the original UP x BBS UP-01 wheels.

At the time, the Model S was changing the way people looked at electric performance cars. For UP, this build represented the beginning of a deeper vision for the platform: more presence, more individuality, and a more complete performance identity.

Now that Model S production has come to an end, looking back at this car feels even more meaningful. It captures an early chapter of Unplugged Performance and one of the most important eras in Tesla history.

Still one of our favorite throwbacks.

A real-world commute comparison on a 2023 Tesla Model 3 Performance.

The factory 20" Uberturbine setup with 235/35R20 tires averaged 262.1 Wh/mi measured over a 200-mile distance during the owner’s regular commute.

After switching to the 19" UP-RW FF with 245/40R19 tires, the same car averaged 243.8 Wh/mi measured over a 200-mile distance across the same commute route, with the same tire pressure.

That is an 18.3 Wh/mi reduction, or roughly a 7% efficiency gain.

Even with wider tires, the UP-RW FF delivered a measurable improvement in real-world energy consumption.

This was the owner’s regular commute, comparing the OEM setup against the UP-RW FF in everyday driving conditions.
