Another VERY long race report from Greg Melka. 6 wins out of 6 starts! Great Job Melk Man!!!

"This past weekend's CCS racing took place at Roebling Road Raceway in GA, and was a combined Florida and South East region event. We had a few less riders in the expert 600 classes than last year (but good sized amateur 600 grids). It was still a fun time, and there was awesome race action in the light weight and unlimited classes. With Stefano V Mesa only running his 1000 (his R6 had a mechanical in practice), Chuck Ivey was guy that was going to give me a major run for my money. He is arguably the top WERA 600cc rider currently, and is making a comeback this year after an injury had sidelined him for some time. I'm sure he's ready to give me some "payback" for just edging him out this past weekend. I was also happy to see my buddies in both expert and amateur classes on Michelin tires, lowering lap times, and getting some good finishes .
Coming into this weekend, I found myself in the championship points lead in not 1, not 2, but 3 regions (South East, Mid Atlantic, and Atlantic). I had already decided early this season to concentrate on the South East and Mid Atlantic regions only, and after this weekends six-for-six performance, I have a huge lead. I have not gone to rounds held at NJMP (New Jersey Motorsports park) that is in the Atlantic region, so it's likely my buddy Ricky O'Hare will surpass my slim 60 point lead there this weekend and take that region's #1 plate. Congrats to him if he can get it done, but I wonder if Bart DeFrancesco will make a run at it as he's close behind in 3rd place. :)
Of course, there's no way to have a lot of success without a lot of help from good sponsors. And with the continued help of many, this has been a great season so far.

Race report from Scott Weitmann of the MRA. Congratulations on another personal best and your 1st win. You are making our Michelin EVO tires look good!

"Round 6 race weekend report. Friday practice wasn't a barn burner but I did find some new race lines. Pueblo Motorsports Park hasn't been my best track but it was a decent practice. I went into the weekend with a personal goal to get a 1:39 lap time. Saturday practice went well and I felt much better. First race Novice GTU I was pushing it in 4th place for 5 laps until I saw my buddy Jared Dear go by me. I took 5th. Awesome race. Second race Formula 40 GTU I started 5th and finished 4th. Another amazing race battling with my good friend Mike Applehans. Third race Saturday was Novice GTO I finished 4th. Then Sunday morning I was debating racing Amateur GTU but I felt I should keep focus and energy for Modern Vintage GTU. Well I'm glad I did. I started 5th took the hole shot and going into turn 1 I saw to the left of me was Raymond Richard on his yellow R6 and pushed into turn 1 deeper than him and was in 1st place. I raced my ass off to my 1st place position. I then noticed my good friend Jen Jen spotting for me and each lap I noticed I was leaving the pack behind. I finished 1st. I finally won my first race and I was so Stoked. Moving on to Modern Vintage GTO . I started 5th and another amazing hole shot. Jim Wilson and myself were tire to tire for the first 8th mile. I chased him for 4 laps until my good friend Andrew Schrems passed me on the inside of turn 1. I finished 3rd. But i accomplished my goal for the weekend, i hit a 1:39. I left round 6 with 2 podiums, 2 4ths and a fifth. I have to say this was the most amazing race weekend I've had. I would like to thank Rocky Mountain Kawasaki and team RMK for all of the support. Rick Grosse and Jen Jen for being such amazing friends and the support that they offer. My good friend Jared Dear for being such a great friend and pit mate and most of all thank you to the whole family and corner workers for their hard work allowing of us to race."

Greg Melka race report:
"Awesome time with CCS roadracing at Summit Point, WV this past weekend. Brent Gordon and Jerry A. Munsell were along for the 15+ hour drive to the track. weather was great for the trackday on Friday and the races on Saturday, but Sunday got a bit messy with rain till early afternoon.
Took 2nd in GTU (first race of my weekend), then threw on some new Michelin rubber and managed to take the win in both supersport races. Then on Sunday was leading Mid wt superbike, but the rains came down and a red flag came out. I decided to not go out for the restart.. but did win my other 2 races later that day (thankfully the weather had cleared and the track had dried).
So, after this weekend, I have a pretty commanding lead for the overall championship in the Mid Atlantic region with just the double point VIR round next month."
