Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered trucks, trailers, construction equipment, and other heavy-duty vehicles. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with diesel engines and hydraulic systems, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty diesel equipment and vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fuel system issues using diagnostic tools and software.
• Inspect engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, suspensions, and other vehicle components.
• Repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems.
• Conduct DOT inspections and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate service records, repair orders, and maintenance logs.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and other shop-related tasks as required.
• Test vehicles and equipment after repairs to verify proper operation.
• Respond to roadside breakdowns and emergency repair calls when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Communicate repair needs and equipment status to supervisors and operators.
Qualifications
Required
• 5+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and air brake systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and repair documentation.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
Preferred
• CDL (Commercial Driver's License).
• Experience with diagnostic software and computerized maintenance systems.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
