Spring cleaning is finally upon us! There are four main rules to consider as you begin. Should I donate, repurpose, sell, or discard?  Limiting what goes in the landfills helps us all. But remember, it’s not just the volume that we need to reduce going in the landfills. It’s also being careful not to pollute the water system with chemicals, used oil and paint. Please contact your county to learn how to properly dispose of these. Donations are accepted at Let’s Help, Salvation Army, God’s Storehouse, and many local organizations that help young families and so many others with clothing and coats. Reach out! I know they would love to hear from you.

I cannot believe that I have to post again today that our phones are not working. I have a repair ticket in and now we wait. My VOIP account is created and I must wait two weeks for our phone number to be transferred to the new phone company. We thank you for your patience once again. Please email us at [email protected].

I cannot stress this enough! Lithium ion batteries should never ever be put in the trash. You will find these batteries in power tools, kids toys, kids ride on toys, smart phones, and laptops. If these overheat because of damage like when they are cycled in the trash truck or overcharging, they can cause fires and explosions! They are highly flammable and volatile. Roughly 198,000 structured fires since 2011 are related to lithium battery damage and nearly 10,000 incidents involving a trash truck.

Please remove these batteries from your devices before placing them in the trash. They can be recycled at recycling facilities across Topeka and many other locations such as Westlake hardware, tractor supply, and Best Buy. Thank you for taking this seriously.
