This Week in Gearhead History:
The Dukes of Hazzard premiered on January 26, 1979! This legendary CBS show brought the Duke boys and their now iconic 1969 Dodge Charger, The General Lee, to the forefront of pop culture. The Dukes took the crazy stunts previously reserved for the big screen and beamed them into homes all over the country. Gone were the days of lazy sedans screeching around a corner with hubcaps popping off. The Dukes of Hazzard ushered in a new era of high-flying automotive stunts, and paved the way for more gearhead shows throughout the 1980's like Knight Rider, The A-Team, and The Fall Guy.
