Big upgrades happening on this boat 🔧⚡

We’re in the middle of installing new Garmin electronics, and let’s just say… what we found behind the panels was a project all on its own 😅

Old, corroded wiring ✔️
Frayed connections ✔️
Mystery splices that make zero sense ✔️

It’s always the stuff you don’t see that matters most. Before any new Garmin units go in, we’re cleaning everything up the right way—fresh wiring, proper connections, and making sure this setup is solid and reliable for the long haul.

Nothing worse than high-end electronics running on sketchy wiring.

The "it was working fine yesterday" starter pack. 🛠️⚠️

🚫 The Hall of Shame:
-Household Wire Nuts: These belong in your kitchen ceiling, not on a boat.

-Electrical Tape Overload: Tape is a temporary fix, not a structural component. Underneath that sticky mess is usually a recipe for a short circuit.

-Missing Internals Fuse Holders: If your electronics are flickering or cutting out, check your fuse and the holder inside and make sure everything is clean and in this case, there at all.

-Is than an extension cord??!!!!??

✅ The "Do It Right" Checklist:
Marine-Grade Heat Shrink Connectors: Use tinned copper connectors with adhesive lining. When you heat them, they seal out the moisture.
Proper Crimp Tool: Don’t just mash it with pliers. A dedicated crimper ensures a mechanical bond that won't shake apart when you're hitting wakes.
Dielectric Grease: A little dab in that fuse holder goes a long way in preventing the corrosion seen in the third photo.
Fix it right once, or fix it at the boat ramp while the fish are biting elsewhere. Tight lines and stay grounded! 🎣⚡

Another recessed trolling motor pedal. I'm not a huge fan of cutting holes into boats but this is a must!!! Turned out great too!!

Garmin just released the latest and greatest 360 system. Compatible with your UHD2 Echomap or GPSMap 9000 series units. $1,999 for the pole system and $999 for the transducer.

Got to work on this beautiful boat. Fixed up some wiring issues, added an Amped 180ah lithium to power all these systems, and an Amped 4 bank charger to keep those volts high!

This week's project was to prep a bass boat for the upcoming pro opens. To meet maximum graph size requirements and keep all the best tech, we switched from lowrance to Garmin and sorted out a bit of a wiring birds nest as you can see below.
