The Mullins Owners Club

For all owners and admirers of the historical Mullins Red Cap All Steel Utility Trailers The name came from the human carriers of baggage at railroad stations.

From 1936 to 1938, Mullins produced a utility trailer called the Red Cap. Venal Broomall, a tool and die designer at Mullins, was the inventor. The emergence of the two-wheel trailer developed in the 1930s because of limited luggage space in cars. Some automobiles had trunks, but most were small and did little more than conceal the spare tire, jack and tools. Luggage racks were available, but suitcases mostly had to be hauled inside beside the passengers.

Ray Falbo here, the new Editor of the Mullins Owners Club. I pull my original Mullins trailer with a 1933 Dodge sedan. Here is a shot in Albany TX on the way to the Good-Guys show when I first met Charles Wilson back in 2012 or 2013. I took over as Editor in January of this year after Charles passed away in December 2023.
