We are the weekend warriors who love to work on and maintain our German vehicles that are our daily drivers and garage queens. We love taking our cars to the track, working on them any chance we can to keep them in pristine condition and of course a little added horsepower here and there is always a nice touch. The memories we create using these cars and sharing them with our friends and family are priceless. first came up with the concept of backdating a 964 in 2004. A ‘90 964 C4 was purchased in 2004 for $12K and the journey of converting it into a steel long hood ‘73 RSR look started The car used steel front and rear early turbo fender flares and a steel long hood. It went back to H4s and the early lights both front and rear. The C4’s front fenders were adapted to look like the early RSR, cutting out the signal light section and weld them in the C4 fender, along with the bottom section of the fender. The rear turbo fenders would be made to look more like the original RSR. The C4RSR was sold in 2006 for $50,000. A lot has been learned in the past 22 years since they first started doing backdates. Many things have changed and we’ll probably never see those prices again!

Fact of the day: Did you know, for one year only, the ‘72 911 had a unique external oil filler flap? This was placed on the passenger rear and looked like a second fuel cap. It was meant to help improve weight distribution but when it came to refueling, some people mistakenly poured gasoline in the oil tank.

Get into historic racing with this 1991 964/993 C2 race car! This car had a complete restoration to its present look in 2022 and is ready to race. It has a low hour 3.6L twin plug race engine, Getty Design 993 body work, MoTeC EFI injection with butterfly intake, crank fire ignition, 993 monoballs, rebuilt JRZ shocks with new springs, refreshed braking system, and more. This Dark Teal Metallic ‘77 911S hot rod owned by forum member greyboxer features a 3.6L M64/07 motor from a USDM 1995 C2. It is his first air-cooled Porsche and he has been hard at work dialing in the car the way he wants, while fixing some issues the car has.

Greyboxer has checked many items off his project list for 2026 which include acquiring a set of 15x7 Fuchs wheels and new 205/55/15 tires, aligning the car, adding R4S Brake Pads, RennShift Performance Shifter, and more. Most recently, he has lowered the car and added a 10mm rack spacer, had the sport seats overhauled with fresh factory leather and Schottenkaro tartan. Stay tuned for more!

“This hairdresser only cuts mullets” is a fitting theme for Qingdao’s ‘99 supercharged 4.3L “Boxsterado”. The name might sound familiar because he is the mad scientist building the RX986 (FD RX7 bodied 986 with a 13B motor). This is one of his earlier projects which started 6 years ago.

The backstory of the Boxsterado starts with his wife finding a ‘99 Boxster she wanted to buy after Qingdao got himself a Karmann Ghia in ‘15. He thought it was fun…. but it had lots of room for improvement. Qingdao thought about what he wanted from the car, which was reliability, parts availability, power, and engine noises…. so he bought a second Boxster, shoving a 4.3L Chevy truck motor in it along with a supercharger.

The first iteration of the car was in 2019, but for 2026, he improved the car significantly. The supercharger and carb surface weren’t perfectly flat, but when all you have is an angle grinder, you use it. He also used heaping amounts of RTV to help hold it in place. This miraculously held for 5 years! The Boxsterado basically needed a new engine as well as another blower.

While he was at it, Qingdao also resprayed the car in Grabber Blue. It was also his best paintjob he’s ever done, thanks to his learnings from RX986 and the previous repaint on this car. What’s the next project? Maybe a Twin Turbo V12 Jaguar motor with a 2’ long stretched chassis. Insanity, but we’re here for it!

Check out this ‘78 911 project from forum member gsmith660. He documents the progress of swapping in a 996 6 speed transmission into his turbo hotrod project. This is no easy task and involves challenges such as modifying the transmission to accept the starter and housing, adapting a 996 center console to the car, cutting the torsion tube & reinforcing it, and more.
