The Sailboat Shop

This week marks the end of a very long chapter in our lives. The Sailboat Shop, which has been open for 33 years (we owned it for 12), has closed for good. The inventory is nearly gone, the shop packed up, the boats/trailers all delivered, abandoned boats crushed and carted away, and the lot is empty. We pulled the sign down and loaded it into the truck yesterday and left through the gates for the last time. Goodbye Sailboat Shop.

I would like to thank all of our loyal customers over the years--helping you is what kept us going (probably longer than we should have). We were happy to serve you and do our small part in helping you in your pursuit of the wonderful sport of sailing. Many of you have become our friends and for that, we will be forever blessed.

For now, Steve will be back to only having one full-time job and Deb will take a few months off to get the kids into school (3 in college, 2 in high school) and to start on things that were neglected after a very strenuous spring and summer for our family (garage and deck burned down, daughter got married, car accidents, and shop closed down).

We are still weighing our options for the website and this FB page. If you have any suggestions, please share.

If you have left a phone message recently, we may have not gotten it. With the property sale, we had to move our Comcast phone to a new service and lost the messages. Please call again and leave your message or FB message us or email us.

In other news, we have had a rough couple of months. On top of learning the Sailboat Shop property was sold, we had our personal garage and deck to our house burn down, a daughter got married (Aug 2), and suffered back problems. All is well now and we are moving forward. We are still working on selling our used boat inventory.

The Sailboat Shop is CLOSING

The winds have changed and we have adjusted our rudder and sails to a new course. After 30 years of serving the sailing community of NJ, PA, and NY, The Sailboat Shop, in Glen Gardner, NJ has closed. We want to thank all of our customers for the many years of patronage. We were happy to serve you and do our small part in perpetuating the sport of sailing. Many of you have become our friends and for that, we will be forever blessed.

Used Boat Sales: For July and August, we will be open by appointment only for used boat sales. Call 908-537-6300 and leave a message. You can also contact us through the website form.

For Boat Repairs: We will not be taking in any new work. If we currently have your boat or involved with a project with you, we will finish the project.

Storage Boats and Trailers: We will be contacting you shortly to make other arrangements for your storage boats and trailers.

We will be at the United States Sailboat Show from Thursday, October 9 through Monday, October 13. It is the world's largest sailboat show with 100s of sailboats to see and climb aboard. We will have a Precision 21 and a Precision 15 in the booth. We will also have a Precision 23 and Precision 185 just outside the show for those interested in those models. Come visit us!!

Job Offered: I need someone at The Sailboat Shop to help me prepare boats for the spring. Weather permitting, hours are 20-30 hours per week. Job includes washing and waxing boats, varnishing, painting, assisting in rigging and launching sailboats, and general assistance around the yard. Flexible hours. Hours are afternoons/evenings and on Saturday. MUST be self-starter and able to work on their own without constant supervision. Starting wage is $10/hr and will go up if everything works well.
