🏁 Auburndale Speedway Race Recap 🏁
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to race at Auburndale Speedway behind the wheel of Jesse Martinez's #5 car. Even though it was a car I had never driven before, we showed speed right away and were fast in the first round of practice.
Qualifying took place during the second practice session, and I was able to put down a great lap and set Fast Time! 🏆
Unfortunately, when race time came around, things didn't go the way I had hoped. I tried the outside lane early, and between a caution and finding myself on the outside during a three-wide battle, I ended up falling to the back of the field.
To make matters worse, the scheduled 30-lap feature was shortened and ended after just 25 laps. I was definitely bummed about that because I truly believe we had the speed to make up several more positions if we had gotten those final laps. But that's racing, and sometimes things just don't go your way.
While it wasn't the result I wanted, I had an absolute blast driving the car and gained valuable experience. Congratulations to Bryson on the win! 👏
Now my focus shifts to spending the summer in North Carolina, and I'm excited to get after it all summer long! 💪🏁

Felt the need to edit this image because it truly captured the love between a father and son who shared the same passion for racing. We are still in disbelief and continue to pray for his family during this incredibly difficult time. 🙏
Love him or hate him, we can all agree that he was one of the most talented wheelmen to ever strap into a race car. His skill, determination, and impact on the sport were undeniable. The racing community has lost one of its greatest competitors, and his legacy will live on for generations to come.
Rest in Peace, Kyle Busch. 🏁❤️

This one is tough. What a talent gone to soon. Our prayers are with the whole family especially his wife and two kids. He was a hell of a driver!! 🙏

We are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of our sport's greatest and fiercest drivers. He was 41 years old.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and the entire motorsports community.

Last night Slick Nick hit the track at Auburndale Speedway! Nick started P5 in the heat race and worked his way forward to finish P4, putting the 31 machine starting P4 in the feature.

Starting on the outside lane made for a tough feature race. Nick did a great job hanging on up top early, but to make forward progress he needed to get down to the bottom groove. That meant giving up a couple spots and falling back to 6th before charging back forward. With the race staying green from start to finish and no cautions to tighten the field back up, passing was extremely difficult.

Nick kept pushing and was able to make the pass for 5th with just two laps remaining to bring home another Top 5 finish. While the results may not show just how fast the car was, the speed was definitely there all night long. Nick laid down a couple 14.9 second laps, making the 31 one of the fastest cars on the track as the third quickest overall.

One huge positive from the night — the car is heading back to the shop with zero damage and ready to get prepared for the next race.

A huge thank you goes out to Jesse at JLM Motorsports for all of the hard work, time, and dedication he puts into this team. Week after week he gives Nick a fast car capable of running up front, and we appreciate everything he does for Slick Nick! 🏁
