π Race Recap β Cook Out Summer Shootout | Round 7 & Round 8 | 7/14/26 π
Round 7
After Round 7 was rained out following a P1 qualifying effort, we returned to the track Monday for practice. It was a bit of a struggle for us, but at the end of the night the JLM Motorsports crew took another swing at the setup and made several changes to the car.
Tuesday kicked off with the make-up race for Round 7 at 1:00 PM. Slick Nick started from P1, but it just wasn't our race. Even so, Nick said it was some of the most fun racing he's had to date. There were some incredible side-by-side battles and clean, hard racing throughout the event. At the checkered flag, Nick brought home a P4 finish, but the smile on his face afterward said it all. Sometimes the racing itself is the reward.
Congratulations to Tryson on picking up his first win!
Round 8
As soon as Round 7 ended, JLM Motorsports went right back to work looking for more speed. Their determination never stopped.
We rolled into qualifying with a field of 35 cars, and Nick qualified P5. After another conversation with Nick, Jesse Martinez and Stephen Coleman immediately went back to work making more adjustments before the feature.
Nick rolled off P4 on the outside of the second row. From the drop of the green flag, we knew they had found something. A caution on the opening lap gave everyone a complete restart, and once again Nick went to work.
What followed was an incredible race. Nick battled hard for every position and, lap after lap, continued closing the gap to the leader. By the final corner he was right on the leader's rear bumper, crossing the line with a hard-fought P2 finish. Congratulations Chase on the win
To top off an outstanding drive, Slick Nick also set the fastest lap of the race and will be recognized with the Fastest Lap Award at the next drivers' meeting. That accomplishment is a testament to the speed JLM found in the car and the confidence Nick had behind the wheel.
It wasn't the win we came for, but it sure felt like one. The teamwork, determination, and never-give-up attitude from Nick, Jesse, and Colman showed exactly what this team is made of. Racing is a team sport, and this night proved it.
I couldn't be prouder of all three of them and the effort they put in.
