This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to write.

My name is Matt Spencer. I’m a towman. I’m a father. And now—I’m the voice for a story no parent ever wants to tell.

My son, Keagan, was just 25 years old. He had a 16-month-old daughter who lit up his world. A fiancée he planned to marry. And a stepson he loved like his own.

He had a whole life ahead of him.
And it was taken in an instant.

Keagan was working on the side of the road—just like I’ve done for years. He was doing what we do: putting others first.

But someone didn’t slow down.
Didn’t move over.
Didn’t care.

And now… we’re here.

You don’t think it’ll happen to your family. You don’t think you’ll bury your child because they chose to help someone. You don’t think your granddaughter will grow up without her daddy.

But that’s my reality.

That’s why I started Hit While Helping.

This isn’t just about Keagan. It’s about every roadside worker who’s been hit, every family left to pick up the pieces, and every life lost because someone couldn’t be bothered to pay attention.

We aren’t asking for much. Just awareness. Just respect. Just enough room to make it home.

Keagan’s legacy will not be silence. It will be a movement. It will be change. It will be loud.

And if you’re reading this—I hope you’ll stand with us.

For Keagan. For his daughter. For every worker still out there risking everything just to help.

Matt Spencer
Keagan’s Dad. Towman. Founder of Hit While Helping.
