Not very often that our work requires us to rescue animals. A mother cat had her kittens in the front bumper of a Toyota Highlander. So we removed the kittens. There are five of them.

To all our loyal customers and supporters,

It’s with sadness that we announce that Becker Car Care will be officially closed for business. Our last day will be May 29.

My family and I will be relocating to the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, where we will still be connected to the automotive repair world.
All of our work is still covered by the TechNet program. Any warranty work that needs to be done can be taken care of by Impact Tire & Service. Their address is 515 Lincoln Blvd. Heston, KS 67062. Phone - (620)889-5500. Other service centers we recommend are Countryside Auto in Moundridge, Barts Auto in Burrton, and RD Auto in Halstead.
We wish to express our sincere gratitude to each of you for the privilege to serve you. And if you get to the Kenai Peninsula, don’t hesitate to look us up.
Thanks and may God bless each of you with His wisdom and guidance.

If your evaporator core looks like the one on the left, then the “Spring Cleaning” isn’t for you. The spring cleaning can help it not get to this point.
The evaporator core is what is responsible for the cool air you feel from your dash. The Freon circulates through the evaporator on the inside of the fins and the blower motor blows air across the outside of the fins. Any restrictions on the inside or outside will reduce AC performance.

We attended a webinar over lunch today to learn about braking systems that doesn’t use the conventional vacuum assisted braking or hydroboost (using power steering pressure). The system is referred to as “hydro electronic” brake assist. It had its beginning somewhere around 2019. There may have been some others before but not that I know of. It is useful for stop/start ability, automated driving/stopping, and reducing brake drag. The system takes about 13 lbs off of the vehicle, thereby making it lighter, more fuel efficient, and cheaper to build. We were glad to learn all that we did.

Here is a camshaft Daron pulled today out of a Dodge 5.7L Hemi. Pictures #1 and #2 are roller valve lifters. #1 is bad and #2 is normal. If you’ll notice, #1 has sharp and flat edges compared to #2. In the third picture is shown the camshaft. Where the arrow points to the bad, the flattened valve lifter has bees steadily grinding the cam lobe flat. It should look like the “Normal” one.
We noticed looseness in some of the other rollers, which are on their way to look like the bad one.

We received this email today and thought we should post it here. Let us know what you think. 😁

This is a bent axle. We don’t see this very often. Either too heavy of a load or too bad of a shock can cause this.

This is looking at a couple lab scope patterns of a camshaft/crankshaft patterns of a GM 2.4L. The first picture is from the vehicle we have in the shop (the one with the problem). The second picture is a known good signal. I started to write out how I know the timing is off by looking at these two pictures, but I quit, because I can’t explain it without going into deep boring details.

This oil filter has been in use for too long. Notice how it is wrinkled. That is because it is overloaded with broke down oil particles. We recommend a 5000 mile oil and filter change interval to protect your engine so it can last longer and run better. Sometimes, like in this case, we recommend an engine cleaning that can breathe new life into the motor.

This is a stabilizer bar link that is loose as you can see in the video. The loud noise in the background is our brake service machine that one of the techs is using to change out brake fluid.
