My post is to try and help answer questions during any type of accident requiring you to file an insurance claim.
Do Not and I repeat Do Not let any insurance company tell you where you have to take your vehicle for repairs. It is your choice, you pay the policy, You take it to a shop you trust. It is 100% your choice and they CANNOT force you to go anywhere. If they do that is against state of Iowa law.
You may be told that you may have to pay the difference out of your own pocket if there is a difference between our estimate and the insurance companies estimate. That is once again 100% false. There may be a difference between estimates but that is our job negotiate the differences to get the vehicle repaired properly. You may be also told there will be no warranty. The shops warranty comes first no matter what. The insurance company warranty comes second.
Do not let them tow the car to a different location just for an estimate. Have them tow the vehicle directly to the body shop. We will take photos and write an estimate and get that turned into the insurance company. Sometimes they may have the vehicle towed to a place call CoPart. Do not do that. Take it directly to the body shop.
