One of the most satisfying things in detailing is peeling the tape line šŸ˜…

My CRV had a bunch of circular ā€œspider webā€ scratches in the paint (detailers usually call them swirl marks), so I decided to do a little paint correction on it.

The right side was polished.
The left side wasn’t.

Same paint. Same lighting. Huge difference.

Stuff like this is why I still genuinely enjoy paint correction work. There’s something incredibly satisfying about bringing neglected paint back to life.

And yes… black paint shows EVERYTHING šŸ˜‚

Like many people around Oregon, I was deeply saddened by the tragic shooting in Sandy last Sunday.

I don’t personally know anyone involved.

For the month of June, I’ll be donating 50% of all headlight restoration tips to support the victims and families affected by the tragedy.

This isn’t a promotion or marketing campaign. It just feels like the right thing to do.

If I can help even a little, I want to.

Please continue keeping the victims, families, first responders, and the Sandy community in your thoughts.

Getting ready for the Oak Grove Festival later this month…

I picked up a couple old junkyard headlights to turn into live display/demo pieces for the booth. This one was heavily oxidized and cloudy, so I decided to do a dramatic half-and-half restoration to show what’s actually possible.

If you’re at the festival later this month, stop by and check these out in person. The difference is wild.

Ok… random non-headlight post šŸ˜…

I’ve been doing this stupid little static electricity trick for YEARS… long before AI videos and internet magic edits existed.

You rip the paper wrapper off a straw REALLY fast, which creates static electricity.

Then you balance the straw on a salt shaker and can actually spin it without touching it.

Still works.
Still feels like Harry Potter magic šŸ˜‚

Physics is weird.

This BMW fought me the entire time šŸ˜…

Heavy oxidation, failed coating, deep damage… definitely one of those jobs where you earn every inch of progress.

But those are also the jobs I weirdly enjoy the most.

After I finished, the client surprised me with lunch and a bottle of wine as a thank-you gift, which honestly meant a lot.

Moments like this remind me that great clients are out there, and that people genuinely appreciate hard work, honesty, and attention to detail.

And yes… the headlights came out AWESOME šŸ”„

Some paint correction work on the CR-V.

These 2013 Infiniti QX56 headlights were getting BAD.

Heavy oxidation, failed factory coating, dull output… the kind of headlights that make an expensive SUV start looking tired.

A lot of people assume replacement is the only option at this point.

Not necessarily.

After a full restoration and ceramic coating, the difference was dramatic. Clearer lenses, sharper appearance, and much better light output at night.

One of my favorite parts of this work is watching a vehicle instantly look newer just from restoring the headlights properly.

Especially on higher-end vehicles like this Infiniti.

And yes… these were a LOT of work šŸ˜…

A lot of so-called ā€œheadlight restorersā€ would be nervous working on vehicles like this Porsche 911.

And honestly… I understand why.

Luxury vehicles have expensive parts, delicate trim, paint protection film, wraps, coatings, and owners who pay attention to every little detail.

That’s not the time to ā€œlearn as you go.ā€

Over the years I’ve now worked on multiple Porsches, Jaguars, Mercedes, BMWs, and even a Maserati.

Not because I market myself as some flashy ā€œluxury detailerā€ā€¦

But because people trust me to be careful, honest, and to know the difference between what CAN be restored… and what shouldn’t be touched.

This 911 had paint protection film on the headlights, so I restored the lower DRL / turn signal lenses instead.

Small detail… big difference.

And reviews like the one from this owner are exactly why more luxury and enthusiast owners keep finding me.
