Tire Rack Street Survival

Tire Rack Street Survival It’s more than driving – it’s about living! The primary emphasis of Tire Rack Street Survival is a “hands-on” driving experience in real-world situations!

Teenagers learn from knowledgeable driving instructors how their actions govern a car's responses, what the limits of their vehicles are, and how to avoid accidents entirely. Unlike other advanced driving schools, students use their own vehicles so that the skills they learn can be directly translated to their own daily driving experiences as they drive home.

Greetings Heroes!

Hello! We are over the most important part of August, my birthday! (just kidding of course) Thanks to all who acknowledged! It's great to hear from everybody even if it's just once a year. Back to business, even more kids are going back to school this week, please keep an eye open for them when you're out on the roads. ....Let's do an update!

Even with the blessed birthday going on, it was a quite week at Tire Rack Street Survival North American Headquarters. No new schools, no new commitments.

Rob Price, our Porsche Club National Street Survival Coordinator, was on a PCA podcast that was all about Street Survival. Manny Alban was also on the show. Manny was the PCA National President at one time and was instrumental in Street Survival becoming PCA project. Take a listen at porsche-club-insider.castos.com. Great job Rob! Thanks Vu & Manny!! (thanks for the shout out Manny & Rob).

The Sandlapper Chapter BMW CCA worked with the Spartanburg TV station (WSPA) recently to promote Street Survival and their November class. Here’s a link to the spot. www.wspa.com

8/22 - Maria's Message - Columbus OH - We assisted the last Maria's Message school for the year. Wonder Woman Jaynee Beechuk was outside, hustling the coaches and students along while Tim Beechuk (who's birthday was this week also) was inside doing the very abbreviated classroom. Hoosier Chapter BMW CCA 1st school since 2022 was held on 8/9. Big smiles!

Greetings Heroes!

Hello! We are over the mid point of August! More kids are going back to school. We've got less than 20 weekends left in the year. Tick Tock Tick Tock... ....Let's do an update!

We had a good week this week at the Tire Rack Street Survival North American Headquarters. We've added 3 schools! Andy Welter opened his school for his MidOhio Region PCA for October. This is after he has been assisting in the herding of instructors for the 3 Maria's Message programs in Columbus in June, July and August. Great job Andy and crew!! The unstoppable Larry Engel is hosting his 2nd school for the New Jersey Chapter BMW CCA. It's now open for students registrations and will also happen in October. Thanks Larry! And, Carol Deborde has opened her 2nd school for registrations for her Reno Region SCCA. This will take place in the 3rd week in November. This is currently our last weekend for the year but I know we can do a few more weekends for those in the Southern climates or groups with hardy crews! We still need more schools! We'll have 2 schools this weekend.

These 3 schools put us at 76 schools for a completed + active total. If you add the 4 committed schools and we are at 80!! That's much closer to our goal of 90. We can still hit that goal! LET'S DO IT!

🚗 Last 2 Weekend’s Action - 3 Schools

8/9 - Hoosier Chapter BMW CCA - 1st time host Kash Abdul-Rahman brought the Hoosier Chapter BMW CCA back into the fold in hosting their 1st school since 2022. 17 students had a good time learning and had big smiles by the end of the day. I drove up to Indy and helped out by facilitating the classroom. Illini Chapter BMW host Bruce Huber came over and helped out with all the back of house duties. Thanks Kash, Bruce and all volunteers!

8/15 - St Louis Region SCCA '26 #2 - St Charles, MO. Sean Connell and team had a big school, 34 seats sold. This was the 62nd school in the St Louis area held by the 3 hosts!! Thanks to all!

8/15 - Kansas City Region SCCA '26 #1 - Independence, MO. The 15th school in KC by the SCCA region. Al Hermans and his volunteers gave 10 students life saving skills to make our roads safer. Thanks Al and your team!

This Weekend’s Action - 2 schools!

8/22 - Philly Region SCCA #2 Blue Bell PA - JR Fisher is holding his 3rd school of the year. He'll still have 1 to go. This one is by the Philly Region SCCA. His mixed crew of SCCA / BMW CCA / PCA is a great example of how well this program works across multiple clubs! Rain will greet him again in the morning for a high of 76 sounds pretty good. Good luck all! Thank you for your work!

Helloooooo! We are into August! Not sure how we got here so fast but it shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. So Bunky, Sit down, Strap in and Hang on! HEY! ....Let's do an update!

We had a good week this week. We've added 2 schools! I woke up this morning to an email from Kathy Curci asking me to open a school for her Nittany Bimmers BMW CCA. This will be in late October school back to their old venue at Sun Motors BMW. I was at their 1st school in 2011, what seems like 400 years ago, at that facility. Thanks Kathy and crew! I also got a message this week to open a 3rd school for the Sandlapper Chapter BMW CCA. This one was a surprise! Thanks to Neal Munn and team. This school will qualify them for our +1=2x$ campaign. They did 2 schools last year so this is 1 added. That's all you need to qualify for 2x the sponsorship money. Great job!

These 2 schools put us at 79 schools for a completed + active + committed total. That's much closer to our goal of 90. We can still hit that goal! LET'S DO IT!

We'll have 1 school this weekend.

A lot was going on at the Tarheel Chapter BMW CCA at last years double weekend in Raleigh.

Greetings Heroes!

Helloooooo Friday! Hello August! WOW! Schools have started going back already, where did the Summer go?! I'm not through my Summer lists yet! Books to read, movies to see, pools to swim, boats to ride, tracks to drive..... oh well. HEY! ....Let's do an update!

Big week this week. We've added 4, count 'em 4 schools this week! NEW HOST!! The Red Hills Region SCCA will host a school for the 1st time in Moultrie GA in November. GREAT!!! The Tarheel Chapter BMW CCA team have announced their annual back to back weekend October in Raleigh. Thanks Phil Antoine, and new registrar Ethan Steinman. And lastly, the Tidewater Chapter BMW CCA will host their annual school in Garysburg NC late November. This was awesome!

Big smiles for the Philly Region SCCA students. This was the 1st of 2 schools for this Region. The 2nd school will be next month and a 2nd school for the DelVal Chapter BMW CCA which is also led by JR Fisher will be in October. That 2nd DelVal school qualifies that Chapter for double the money with our +1=2x$ campaign.

Hello Friday! It's the last weekend in July! Sorry that now there are more storms, fires and floods. I hope everyone is staying safe. All good here in my part of KY. HEY! ....Let's do an update!

We had great time last weekend in Pittsburgh for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (PVGP) in Schenley Park. The BMW CCA put together a little video highlight. Check it out www.instagram.com! There's a little tease at the end for the BMW CCA 'OFest' next year in Pittsburgh ending with the PVGP. Jason, Jon from the club, BMW CCA Board RVP Larry and wife Karin Engel, BMW CCA President Jeff and wife Sharon Caldwell and some mysterious redhead rolled up their sleeves and got it done for the club and helped Jaynee and I out with our booth as Tim was not able to go. Rain and wild fire smoke on Saturday was a bummer but Sunday was the most perfect weather day in Pittsburgh I've ever spent.

We added one school this week. The South Carolina Region SCCA will host their 1st school in a couple of years in November! New venue and a new leader. Gary Bennett will be taking over for Melanie Murray. Unfortunately we had to cancel a school for this weekend. The NEOhio Region SCCA had to pull the plug on the 1st school of the year due to low student count. They will rally for their second school in October.

We'll have one school this weekend. It's a SOLD OUT! school by the White Mountain Chapter BMW CCA.

7/18 - Chicago Region SCCA #1 , Joliet IL - 28 seats were filled for this SOLD OUT! school. Kevin Coulter led his 16th school! He's been at the helm for the Region since their beginning with Street Survival 14 years ago. Excellent work everybody!

7/18 - Philly Region SCCA '26 #1 , Blue Bell, PA - The unstoppable JR Fisher filled 18 seats for this 1st school for the Philly Region this year, his 2nd school overall this year. This was the 35th school for this Region and 50th+ for JR, who also manages the DelVal Chapter BMW CCA schools. Strong work all!

OK so this is a bit of a stretch, but.... I was going to celebrate the Illini Chapter BMW CCA back-to-back school this weekend with a picture from 2010 and their 1st year, but there are no pictures from that. So how about from 2015 when they did their 1st back-to-back weekend? Nope, still no pictures. How about any pictures from any year from the Illini Chapter, alas no. Hey guys how about some pic's?! BUT.... we gotta have something that catches the eye and keeps you all coming back right? Here's a shot from a school we did in Savannah GA back in 2015. Sadly the name of this dedicated motorhead is lost. Sorry

Greetings Heroes!

Well it's Friday again! It's the 2nd weekend in July! I hope everybody had a Happy Independence Day! When you have a granddaughter who's lives close and has a birthday the day after the 4th, things are great! Hard to be grumpy around a 7 year old. We are back hosting schools after a couple of weeks off. 2 schools (our 2nd back-to-back for the year) and a Maria's Message this weekend. Let's do an update!

We had a up and down week at the International Tire Rack Street Survival HQ. We had promises made this week on 4 schools by the SCCA. We had to postpone an almost sold out PCA school in California scheduled for this fall due to venue conflicts. Hopefully we can get that sorted out with a major assist by the BMW Club Chapter. Fingers crossed. (Thanks Dan!)

7/11 - Maria's Message - Columbus OH - We are helping facilitate the 2nd Maria's Message school this weekend in Columbus. Thanks to all involved in that event.

7/11 - Illini Chapter BMW CCA '26 #1 &

7/12 - Illini Chapter BMW CCA '26 #2 - Bruce Huber and the Illini Chapter of the BMW CCA is hosting the 26 & 27th school in their 16 year history this weekend. They were one of the first if not THE first to embrace the double school in one weekend concept. They started hosting double weekends back in 2015 and have done so ever since. They started hosting 5 years prior when State Trooper Rick Largen passionately took up the banner for TRSS and led the charge for 12 years! Bruce has the same passion and has demonstrated his skill at marketing and PR. They have 32 students for Saturday (35 seat capacity) and 21 for Sunday! Well done all!

56 teens have died this week since the last time you read this update!

NOTE - I received an email comment from a reader that I shouldn't have a exclamation mark after this stat because "No one would see this as funny". My exclamation is not to try to inject humor here but to emphasize the severity of this social calamity. This is the same as a jet plane full of teens every month! We have got to do a better job training our most vulnerable new drivers. I feel our program does that! That's why this stat stays up. We gotta remember the task at hand. WE SAVE LIVES!
