Chrome might not always get you home, but a solid water pump and timing job will, and on this weekend's episode of Bubba D's Garage, we tackled the notorious 3.5 engine. If you're familiar with these beasts, you know the water pump is nestled deep within the engine and powered by the timing chains. So, while we were in there, we replaced it with an OEM Ford water pump, upgraded all the timing components, chains, guides, seals, and valve cover gaskets, and even threw in a new serpentine belt, stretch belt, fresh fluids, and spark plugs for good measure. Now, this 3.5 is back in action. Looking ahead, we'll be doing more of these repairs and Bubba D's will be setting up shop in Georgetown, so don't expect many updates soon, but we're not disappearing! A 2016 Silverado with the 6L80 transmission came in for service after a visit to Chevrolet. The customer had purchased a Power Train Products transmission unit and required assistance with installation. We efficiently removed the old transmission and installed the new unit in just a few hours. The next step is to have the TCM programming completed at GM due to the truck's model year before returning the vehicle to the customer.
