One of the most expensive ways to fix a vehicle is to start replacing parts before you know what's actually wrong.

A warning light, strange noise, or no-start condition doesn't always mean the obvious part is bad.

Good diagnostics means testing the system, following the symptoms, checking the basics, and finding the actual cause of the problem.

Sometimes the answer is a $20 part.

Sometimes the part you thought was bad isn't bad at all.

That's why proper diagnosis matters.

Don't just throw parts at the problem.

🔧 SUNDAY MAINTENANCE THOUGHT

Today I saw something you don't see every day—a firetruck hooked up to a tow truck.

My first thought was, "You don't see that very often."

Then I started thinking about what it really means when a firetruck goes down.

For most vehicles, a breakdown is an inconvenience.

For an emergency vehicle, it can be much more serious.

When someone calls 911, that firetruck needs to be ready to respond. A mechanical failure at the wrong time could mean valuable minutes are lost when every second matters.

That's why preventive maintenance and regular inspections are so important, especially for fleets and emergency vehicles.

PMs aren't just about changing oil or checking a box on a maintenance sheet.

They're about finding problems BEFORE they become failures.

Check it. Maintain it. Fix it before it leaves someone stranded—or worse, leaves someone waiting when they need help.

🔧 Saturday — How Bowen’s Repair Started

Bowen’s Repair started as something pretty simple.

I started doing mobile mechanic work as an offshoot of my normal job, originally to help my wife’s employer keep their vehicles and equipment going.

What started as helping one customer has slowly grown into something bigger.

Now I’m building Bowen’s Repair into a mobile mechanic and fleet service business focused on helping businesses keep their vehicles on the road and minimizing downtime.

I’m still working my regular full-time job while building Bowen’s Repair on the side, so this isn’t something that happened overnight.

It’s being built one repair, one customer, and one day at a time.

I’m grateful for everyone who has trusted me with their vehicles and helped Bowen’s Repair get this far.

There’s a lot more work ahead—but I’m just getting started.
