A personal message from our President, Heather Salinas.
Looking back through pictures from the last several years has brought back so many memories - and reminded me just how much has happened along the way.
My journey with Southwest Wyoming BMX started in 2021 when I showed up to volunteer at one of our indoor races at the Sweetwater Events Complex. Not long after, I joined the board and eventually had the privilege of serving as President.
Our indoor season is where it all started for me. Behind every indoor race is an entire BMX track that has to be built and when races are over, it all comes back down. It takes equipment, coordination, long hours, volunteers, and a lot of people willing to show up and work together.
In 2022, we took another big step when a small group of us on the board began championing a vision for an outdoor track. We wanted our kids to have the opportunity to ride year-round.
What started as a vision became a huge commitment, and looking back reminds me it took some grit! We built, learned, and kept improving - a little every year. Each season brought another project, another improvement, and another group willing to help.
None of it happened because of one person. It happened because of a community.
Countless volunteer hours, donated time and resources, and tremendous support from our local communities, businesses, families, and community partners have all helped grow into what we are today.
But when I look back, what Iโm most proud of isnโt just the tracks or the races, itโs what grew around them.
Kids found a sport they love. Riders grew up together. Families became friends. We competed, celebrated, learned, laughed, worked hard, and made memories that will last a lifetime. Iโve also had the opportunity to serve alongside an incredible group of people, several of whom became some of our closest friends.
And now, the time feels right for a new chapter.
I am committed to helping our next President and board through the transition, sharing what weโve learned, providing history, and context.
With planning for our upcoming indoor series approaching, this is an important time for our next leadership team to begin taking shape to be part of these upcoming conversations.
I will also remain on the board with a particular focus on continuing to champion the development of the community pump track in Green River working alongside the City to help move that vision forward.
If youโve ever thought about getting involved, I hope youโll consider this your invitation. You donโt have to know everything about BMX or have previous board experience. You simply need to care about creating opportunities for kids in our community and be willing to contribute.
Serving as President has been an incredible privilege. I am deeply grateful for the trust, support, friendships, relationships, and memories that have come from this experience.
I am incredibly proud of what we have built together - one season, one project, and one memory at a time.

With gratitude,
Heather Salinas ๐ ๐ฒ
