Just a little PSA because this keeps coming up from customers who walk in the door here at DRP..
Just to pre-face, i do think the FA24 is the best turbo engine Subaru has built to date, in stock form.. Its a great step forward from the fa20, and in time i think we will see it replace the EJ for high HP builds.
BUT.. Repeat after me... These motors do not live at 600 WHP in stock form..
And to add even more fuel to that fire, they dang sure do not live at the HP level without additional port injection...
Dyno numbers can be/and are fabricated all the time by shops and tuners
Cars can make a number on a dyno, then immediately be turned down to survive
Cars can make a number on a dyno then get driven conservatively for the rest of its "life" to promote longevity at a given HP level.. but is it really?
Cars can make a number on a dyno, go to the track and make a pass, then nuke itself on pass 2, and you will never know it.
If you want to build a high HP Subaru, and the only evidence the shop you want to use to do it can provide you to prove their experience, is a dyno sheet.. Go somewhere else.
Ask for timeslips
Ask for video's of their cars on a road course
Hell ask for any proof at all of the cars actually performing in a real measurable way
Last, if you want to build any Subaru to 600whp+, you are going to spend so much money, that transporting the car to one of the shops in the country that can accurately provide the proof they know what they are doing, is a very small amount compared to the build, do that.
