Well that was fun. I just spent about an hour chasing voltage and checking resistance on the starting circuits, just to find someone installed their own remote starter button. Only to find there was just corrosion on the starter cable. Ugh... would have been nice to know the original starter button was broken and it had a Jerry-rigged starter button on the side of the bike.

Folks will say this is carbon or some other improper mixture b.s. It is dirt. This is what you're doing to your engine when you don't regularly replace your paper air filter, or, frequently and properly clean and oil your serviceable foam air filters.

Another shops quote was $7,000 (totaled) and they said the frame was bent. All I found was a bent fairing mount, I bent it back and will paint it at the time of repair. This repair will cost just under $2000 with labor included. 2nd opinions are not just for doctors folks.

Replaced the bad starter clutch and got this surprise. Considering the crankcase was completely devoid of oil before the repair, routine maintenance, oil changes, and proper oil quantity is vital to keep your machine running. I guess they'll just ride it into the ground, since rebuilding this engine will cost astronomically more than this old bike is worth sadly.

Well this relic is alive again. Now to reassemble the body and send er' home.
