Most consumers assume they have a way to challenge an insurance company's repair estimate or vehicle valuation.

In reality, many Montana policyholders have no practical dispute resolution process when they disagree with a claim decision.

Without Right to Appraisal, consumers are often left with:

The Montana Collision Repair Association (MCRA) is composed of collision repair facilities across Montana. Member shops assist Montana consumers with automotive repairs and educate consumers about rapidly evolving auto insurance practices that impact the quality and cost of repair

Right now, the MCRA is working hard on the proposed Right to Appraisal legislation, which would preserve a formal mechanism found in most auto insurance policies to resolve disagreements over repair valuations. By allowing independent appraisals and a structured dispute resolution process, the legislation aims to ensure that policyholders receive fair compensation in line with their coverage.

Supporting Right to Appraisal fundraising efforts helps level the playing field. It protects Montana drivers and keeps repair decisions in the hands of qualified professionals—not solely in the hands of insurance companies.
