Not every coolant leak is easy to spot.

This Porsche came into the shop with a concern that the water pump might be leaking. After inspecting the cooling system, we confirmed the water pump was actively leaking. The pump is located near the top center of the engine, and coolant was visible around the pump, allowing us to pinpoint the source of the leak.

A water pump plays an important role in circulating coolant through the engine. When it begins to leak, it can eventually lead to overheating and more extensive engine damage if the problem isn't addressed.

Confirming the source of a leak before recommending repairs is an important part of the diagnostic process. It helps ensure the correct repair is made the first time.

Brake Myth: "If my brakes aren't making noise, they must be fine."

Brake Fact: Not all brake problems make noise. Worn brake pads, uneven wear, or other issues can develop quietly, which is why regular brake inspections are so important.

With August being National Brake Safety Month, it's a great reminder to have your brakes checked before a small issue becomes a bigger repair.

Sometimes a brake inspection uncovers much more than worn brake pads.

This vehicle came in because of a grinding noise during braking. During our test drive, we verified the noise was coming primarily from the driver's front. After a complete inspection, we found the driver's front inner brake pad had worn completely away because the brake hardware had seized. We also found the driver's front wheel bearing had failed and had excessive play.

As we continued our inspection, we found the passenger-side rear frame rail beginning to separate due to corrosion. We also found sticking brake pads and seized slide pins on multiple corners of the vehicle, even though the remaining brake pads and rotors were still within specification.

A thorough inspection doesn't just confirm the original concern. It helps uncover other issues that could affect your vehicle's safety and reliability, giving you the information you need to make informed repair decisions.

Parking on wet grass now and then isn't usually a problem, but doing it regularly can be. Moisture can get trapped underneath your vehicle, creating the perfect environment for rust and corrosion to develop over time.

As late-summer rain becomes more common, it's something to keep in mind if you regularly park on your lawn.
