After 33 years of dedicated service, Chief Mankel has announced his retirement.
Chief Mankel began his career with the City of Walker in 1993 as a part-time police officer. Since then, he has served in a variety of roles over the years, culminating in his appointment as Chief over five years ago.
He has been instrumental in helping Walker Police Department develop and evolve into a premier law enforcement agency. Recent accomplishments include achieving and maintaining accreditation standards and implementing a high-quality drone program.
Chief Mankel had planned on retiring earlier this year, but delayed the process after the sudden passing of Walker's Fire Chief in May. He has been serving as the Interim Fire Chief since that time as well.
His last day will be November 1.
Thank you Chief - this retirement is well deserved!
