Sticky foil packet dinners? Line the foil with parchment paper first.

Foil seals in heat, but sugary glazes and delicate proteins love to “weld” themselves to it (teriyaki salmon, honey-garlic chicken, BBQ tofu). A simple parchment liner creates a nonstick barrier so your sauce stays on dinner—not stuck to the foil—and cleanup is basically lift out, toss liner.

Quick setup for no-mess packets:
1) Foil sheet (12–18”) + a slightly smaller parchment sheet
2) Parchment on top, food + sauce in the center
3) Fold parchment edges up like a little bowl
4) Fold foil over and crimp tight (double-fold the top seam + pinch the sides)
Tip: leave a little headspace so steam can circulate, and keep parchment fully inside the foil if grilling.

When it shines: BBQ/teriyaki/honey sauces, fish, shrimp, cheesy veggies, potatoes, even cinnamon apple dessert packets.

Road trip idea: make a few flavor packets ahead, explore Colorado National Monument or the wineries nearby, then come back to an easy dinner night at Junction West Grand Junction RV Park (spacious full hook-up pull-through sites, splash pad, three fenced dog parks, and spotless private tiled showers).

Team Parchment or Team Straight Foil? What’s your go-to foil packet meal to make at Junction West Grand Junction RV Park?

Traveling with a dog? The last thing you want is to arrive and then hunt for a quick break spot.

At Junction West on the west side of Grand Junction (right off I-70), you’ll find three fenced dog parks on-site—an easy way to let your pup stretch their legs after check-in or between adventures. It’s a core amenity for RV site guests, tiny house cabin guests, and apartment guests, which is especially helpful if you’re settling in for an extended stay and want a consistent, pet-friendly routine.

What’s your dog’s go-to “arrival ritual” when you pull in—sniff walk, water bowl, or straight to play? Tell us below.

Quick RV question: do you carry a compact ladder for fast roof/awning checks—YES or NO?

A 60-second glance can catch the little stuff before it turns into a leak, a torn awning, or an expensive repair—especially after a travel day, wind, or parking under trees.

Our quick-check checklist:
• Roof: scan sealant around vents/AC/skylights for cracks, lifted edges, or fresh scuffs
• Awning: look for tiny tears, loose arms/bolts, and sneaky debris (pinecones + twigs love to hide up there)
• After storms: do a post-wind walk-around before you settle in

Safety first (always):
• Three points of contact + avoid wet morning surfaces
• If climbing isn’t your thing, a phone on an inspection pole works great for roof edges and awning tops

If you’re rolling into Junction West Grand Junction RV Park, drop a YES/NO in the comments—and tell us what you check first when you arrive.

Grand Junction’s signature red-rock backdrop is even better up close. Colorado National Monument towers above the Redlands and Fruita like a natural amphitheater of sheer sandstone cliffs, deep canyons, and stone towers.

If you’ve got limited time, here’s an easy way to experience it:
• Take the scenic drive for cliff-edge viewpoints
• Stretch your legs on a Monument Canyon trail to see formations like the Coke Ovens and the towering rock “skyline”
• Bring your camera—sunrise and sunset turn the walls into glowing layers of red and gold

It’s one of the few places where you can go from city streets to high-desert wilderness in minutes—and when you stay at Junction West Grand Junction RV Park, it’s a simple day-trip plan from your campsite.

Save this for your next Grand Junction trip—Junction West makes an easy home base for Monument sunsets.

Need a fun, indoor adventure break on your I-70 road trip (or a family-friendly afternoon in Grand Junction)? Dinosaur Journey in Fruita is the hidden gem.

Just off I-70 and close to the entrance of Colorado National Monument, this hands-on museum mixes real western Colorado fossils with can’t-miss interactive exhibits:
- Life-size robotic dinosaurs + fossil skeletons
- A working paleontology lab where you can watch real scientists prepping discoveries
- A “dig” sand pit where kids can excavate replica dino bones
- Even a simulated earthquake platform for a little thrill

If you’re staying at Junction West Grand Junction RV Park, this makes an easy 1–2 hour outing before sunset back at camp (splash pad, playground, and three fenced dog parks waiting).
