Flowzilla was originally built with 3 Bosch 044 style pumps. This allowed for adjusting pump flow based on the injectors being tested. While it worked well for half a decade, pump failures from the stress of 90-100 psi for the big injectors was beginning to be a real issue.
I always envisioned a 3 phase motor with a Variable Frequency Drive to adjust pump RPM as the goal. I also want to eventually have PID pump control for some tests. A touch screen controller for the bench that allows interfacing with the controller was needed to change parameters.
I suck a programming, Claude AI saved the day. It took weeks of work though to get this all built and swapped in when workload allowed.
Always trying to make the best piece of equipment that allows for faster turn around, more accuracy and ever increased capabilities!

For anyone that’s sent in Atomizers and noticed the flow numbers we recorded were way low compared to advertised. This video shows that it’s not our bench that’s the issue. Everyone we speak to in the injection world has similar experiences of 8-10% lower flows than advertised.

So here's a little insight into injector set variance percentages. Everyone tosses around 2% or better, but NOBODY asks how that is calculated. This photo is an example of another "big name" injector business. Their calculations in yellow, and our calculations in green. Exact same data, WAY different conclusions drawn.
They for some reason they send out unlocked .xls forms, which is great to see how they get such excellent numbers from a set of injectors we said were not great. They take JUST the highest flowing injector and compare that to the set average (that the highest flowing injector skewed towards itself via the average). No consideration at all for the low flowing injector.....
At Fuel Injector Services, our variance percentages are always the highest flowing in the set vs the lowest flowing. This gives a worst-case scenario and prevents issues down the road. Imagine this, the high and low flowing injectors are in the same bank, on the same o2 sensor. Your o2 sensor may say things are great, but you have an overly rich cylinder, and likely an overly lean cylinder. Depending on your tune, you may hurt parts all while thinking everything was well tuned.
Keep this in mind when you get your injectors back. Ours may have higher variance numbers, but it's because we give the whole picture!

Believe it or not, the various fuel injector shops around the country do talk and surprisingly we’re friends! Keep in mind, all of those fancy electronics really do 2 things, control your ignition coils, and control your fuel injectors. This covers the latter. If your interested in fuel and fuel accessories (Hank Hill joke) your going to really learn something here. I talk a lot, but it’s all mildly interesting, especially the last 1/4 or so.

Talking fuel pressure spikes and how a damper, in this case a Holley damper, can fix issues you may not have even considered.

Brand new piston flow meter that will be incorporated into FlowZilla. This will add accuracy (although the bench is already around 1% tolerance) but will also increase automation and possibly open the door for fuel pump and other component testing.

For the sled customers, we know the manufacturers glued those injectors into the harness. Not to fuss, send it all in! We leave the injectors in the harness and pin via adapters into the connector.

We’re having a great year with the sled injectors. We also know the snow is a perishable substrate, and we’ll spin your injectors around in about a day. If you have a race, call the shop at 716-427-4599 and let us know. We may be able to squeeze in a same day service.

From this to that Fridays. Flowzilla was originally built as analog as it gets. Piles of timers, diodes and wires everywhere! It worked, but I always envisioned a single controller that would allow for significantly easier upgrades, repairs and offer a display of the test modes and status.

I had a mild panic attack removing the original “guts” knowing that if this didn’t work I just disassembled the single most important piece of equipment I own.

So far everything has been working great and the bench is back up and running with it’s new “brain” with and upgraded display!
