Dear Graceville and surrounding neighbors,
As many of you know, our community suffered a devastating blow last month when a fire broke out at S&W. While we have spent the last several weeks processing this loss and looking at every possible path forward, it is with a heavy heart that we must share our final decision: we will not be rebuilding, and S&W will permanently close its doors.
For over 40 years, this store was so much more than just a business to us. It was a gathering place for neighbors, a reliable stop before early morning fishing trips, and a vital resource for our local farmers, hunters, builders, and drivers. When we first opened many years ago, we wanted to make sure our small town always had exactly what it needed close to home—whether that was a hard-to-find auto part, a fresh batch of bait, or just a friendly chat over a hot cup of coffee.
While the fire took our building, it cannot take the decades of memories we made together. We have watched generations of families walk through our aisles, helped fix countless trucks, and swapped stories about the best hunting spots and the ones that got away. Your trust, loyalty, and friendship made every single day worth it.
We also want to express our deepest, most profound gratitude for the overwhelming wave of love, support, and kindness you have shown us since the night of the fire. Seeing this community rally around us during our darkest moment has been a powerful reminder of why we loved serving you all these years.
Though we won't be able to welcome you back through our doors, we just to say thank you and should we run into each other, maybe share some hugs, and swap a few final stories.
Thank you, from the absolute bottom of our hearts, for letting us serve you, laugh with you, and be a part of this community's history. We will miss you more than words can say.
With deepest gratitude and love,
The Smith family, all their employees and their families
