City of Gonzales, Texas The internationally recognized sign of freedom, the Come and Take IT flag was born from that battle. We’re not just about relaxation in Gonzales.

Today, Gonzales is still rich in history, but we are much more. We are the home to the Texas Junior High School State Rodeo Finals every May and we have rodeos at our JB Wells Park Arena almost every weekend. If rodeo is not to your liking take a look at our outstanding 9 hole Golf Course or see the Come and Take It cannon at our Memorial Museum. We are business friendly too. Just ask Adams Extract, Southern Clay, Jim H. Wilson, or Tropical Fusions a few of the companies based here. We are the crossroads of the Eagle-Ford Shale Oil Field. Such oil companies as EOG, Lucas Oil, and Marathon Oil have made Gonzales their regional home. The Texas-Northern-Gonzales Railroad provides personal service you will never see with the large national railroads. We invite you to “Come and Take It” and once you do, you’ll never let it go.

Last week, the City of Gonzales team and those involved in the Texas Legacy in Lights project traveled to Fort Worth for the Texas Travel Summit, where they proudly accepted the inaugural Innovation & Impact Award from the Texas Travel Alliance on behalf of Discover Gonzales and the City of Gonzales!

This prestigious award recognizes destinations that transform bold ideas into a lasting benefit for its community. Discover Gonzales earned this honor for Texas Legacy in Lights, a first-of-its-kind immersive experience that transforms the historic Gonzales Memorial Museum into a living canvas for Texas history.

Through live-action storytelling, projection mapping, visual effects, and historical interpretation, visitors are transported through the events that shaped Gonzales and helped shape Texas itself. Presented free to the public year-round, the experience has become a successful after-dark attraction that supports local restaurants, shops, lodging properties, and cultural sites while fostering community pride among residents.

For demonstrating exceptional innovation, community collaboration, accessibility, heritage preservation, and lasting visitor impact, Discover Gonzales was selected as the recipient of the inaugural award.

Gonzales National Night Out is right around the corner, which means it's time to start prepping for our friendly tug-of-war competition! Last year, Apache Football took home the trophy, but this year, we're excited and ready for the rematch.

Join us at the Edwards Community Center (1427 Fly Street) on Tuesday, October 20th from 6 PM-8 PM. This free community event is a great opportunity to meet your neighbors, local law enforcement, and have some fun. We hope to see you there!

Special thank you to the Dapper Dairy Farm of Waelder, Texas for the awesome trophy!

Because of this, today's remaining route is paused. Frontier crews will be back out first thing tomorrow morning to collect all remaining bins. Thank you for your patience!

It's raining, it's pouring, your trash cans are oaring! 🚣

Trash cans are on the move, please be mindful of the weather and grab them before they block drainage inlets or get lost in the runoff.
