GeoSynFuels, LLC

GeoSynFuels, LLC Second Generation Biofuels GSF is actively seeking investment for the design, construction and operation of a demonstration plant using their 5CS Technology.

The plant, to be built adjacent to a sugar mill in Brazil, will treat 100 tpd of bagasse and produce fuel grade ethanol and biomass residue for the mill's boiler.

GeoSynFuels, LLC, a private U.S. company, has developed a method to produce cellulosic ethanol that is a “bolt-on” to an existing sugar mill/ethanol plant (hereinafter referred to as a “sugar mill”) (or other biomass facility) and enables significant incremental production at very low operating and capital costs.

Unlike most next generation concepts, GSF’s patented process (“5CS™”) employs a simple process that utilizes off-the-shelf equipment and does not require high-cost enzymes or new biomass production/aggregation.

Rather than try to convert the entirety of cellulosic material to ethanol, 5CS™ targets only the easy-to-extract five-carbon sugar (hemicellulose) present in biomass and returns to the host plant a residue material suitable for its original use.

GeoSynFuels, LLC (“GSF”) is a dynamic company focused on the development of second generation biofuel and biochemical technologies. Founded in late 2006, GSF has patented an easily deployable and economic technology for the production of biofuels and biochemicals (including cellulosic ethanol and acetic acid). The 5CS™ Technology is unique in that it bolts-on to existing industrial facilities, and extracts only the low-value hemicellulose from the biomass (sugar cane bagasse or wood) for conversion into ethanol while preserving the bulk of the material for its original use. At present, the high cost of feedstock and its associated obligated uses (boiler fuel or fiber production) are major barriers to the expansion of the advanced biofuel industry. The approach of the 5CS™ Technology makes economic cellulosic biofuel production a reality today, thus, enabling GSF to compete in the $1.5 trillion annual global transportation fuel market.

GSF has extensively tested the 5CS™ Technology at laboratory and pilot scale (up to 10 tons per day) and is ready to deploy the process as a commercial demonstration. GSF, with its Brazilian engineering partner Sermatec Zanini, has completed the design of a 50 ton per day bagasse demonstration plant to be located adjacent to an operating sugar mill in Brazil. As part of this commercialization, GSF is currently seeking to raise $45 million in private equity to fund this initiative.
