This week Kayla and I had the opportunity to be guests on the DentSlayer Podcast, and I wanted to share it with friends and family who might be interested in hearing our story.
This was actually my first time ever being on a podcast, so I’ll be honest—I was a little nervous and probably rambled a bit 😅. But Matt was gracious, and the conversation ended up covering a lot of ground that really shaped who we are today.
We talk about my early life, including some bad decisions that could’ve led down a very different road, how I ended up choosing a trade instead, learning PDR, climbing the corporate ladder, and eventually making the leap into entrepreneurship and investing. We also share Kayla’s story—how she got started in the industry, how we both worked at Dent Wizard, and how I had the chance to train her early on.
The episode also dives into our travels to Australia (multiple trips), what that experience was like, and what other technicians can realistically expect if they ever consider going that route.
Toward the end, the conversation shifts into personal development and entrepreneurship—why starting an LLC, even as a side hustle, can be a powerful tool both professionally and tax-wise, and how “betting on yourself” doesn’t always mean taking reckless risks.
I’m sharing this not because I think I have it all figured out (I definitely don’t), but because if any part of our journey helps or encourages someone else, then it was worth doing.
If you’re interested, give it a listen. And if not, no worries at all—just wanted to share a little piece of our story.
Episode 18 is live! The first husband and wife PDR couple to be on the podcast. Actually, Kayla is the first lady to appear on the podcast as well. Dave Swye...
