INCREASED PATROL IN GLOUSTER
From August 26 through August 29, 2026, the Athens County Sheriff's Office conducted increased criminal patrol efforts in the Village of Glouster. Detectives and deputies conducted numerous traffic stops in the village, resulting in multiple arrests and the initiation of several drug investigations.
Sheriff Rodney Smith stated, “These increased patrol efforts are about being visible, proactive, and addressing criminal activity that impacts the quality of life in our communities. Our deputies and detectives will continue working to identify drug activity, apprehend wanted individuals, and keep Athens County communities safe.”
The following enforcement actions were taken:
August 26, 2026: Detectives conducted a traffic stop resulting in charges for tampering with evidence and possession of a controlled substance.
August 27, 2026: Detectives conducted two traffic stops resulting in citations for driving without a license, charges for possession of a controlled substance, and one arrest for an outstanding warrant.
August 29, 2026, detectives and deputies conducted a traffic stop that resulted in charges for possession of a controlled substance and an arrest directed by the Adult Parole Authority. Additionally, contact with a suspicious individual resulted in charges for tampering with evidence and possession of a controlled substance.
