THANK YOU EVERYONE! We officially sold our gas station/c-store, the Bear Crossing on 3/30/26. As we celebrated being in this business for 21 years as well this past week, this was definitely a bitter sweet for us. We have much to be thankful for especially when we think of our kids being raised in this business atmosphere and how much fun we had had over the years! The decision to sell was a tough decision to make especially when you own something for this long, built it from ground up, and enjoy serving the community in this type of business! Over two decades it has been good to us, but now it is time now for us to cut back a bit in our very busy lives and focus our efforts towards our other businesses we still own while also being able to enjoy life too.
We want to take this platform and time to thank all of our employees for all their work in serving our customers, your flexibility, and working as a family-oriented group. We could not have operated for this long without the past and current amazing employees! We appreciate you and all the work you have done for us!
We also want to thank all of our customers near and far who have been so loyal to us for all these years in shopping at our store to keep it thriving in a small community. Your support goes a long way. As for our local Glidden area customers, we thank you for all your loyalty to shop small business!! You definitely need your locals in a small town and we always enjoy seeing you daily/weekly!! We also have so many non-local customers who travel from all over Wisconsin and other states to Glidden to vacation or stay at a cabin or second home, visit family and friends, or attend our town’s events, and then many customers who are just passing through Glidden on their way to another destination. Time and time again we have heard we are your stop because we are the cheapest gas in the area, or because we have clean bathrooms and a clean welcoming store, or because you like our employees, or even because you just gotta see all our animal and fish mounts throughout the store. No matter what your reason is, we are grateful and truly humbled you choose us in your travels! It has been fun and rewarding to talk to and get to know so many travelers who say “you’re always our stop!” It’s equally rewarding when we have been out of town so many times and have seen people wearing our Bear Crossing apparel. It always puts a big smile on our face! We know you all have a choice in where you shop so know that we appreciate you!
As we close this particular chapter of business ownership with the gas station, we will continue to own and operate our Bear Gas propane business and our Bear Necessities hardware and more store. We look forward to continuing to grow these two businesses to keep them thriving in our town and serving you. We have had people ask if we are personally moving out of town, but we have no intentions of moving out of Glidden.
For any propane customers who have dropped off Bear Gas propane payments at the gas station, please discontinue and start dropping those off at the Bear Necessities store or mail directly to Bear Gas.
Jodi Schloer the current manager of the gas station will be taking on a new career path now working to help us run the operations of Bear Gas propane and continuing to oversee the Bear Necessities store as she always has with our employees there.
The new owners of the Bear Crossing gas station are so nice and thrilled to be serving our community and are looking forward to getting to know you as customers and also the current employees. They said they plan to keep the store name Bear Crossing while branding it BP as you may have noticed the change already happening. They said it will be called Bear Crossing Petro. We are so excited to see the fresh new look of the canopy and marketing sign when it’s all complete as that was much needed!!! Because you have all supported us for 21 years, let’s all do our very best to welcome the new owners in our community and support them for many years to come!!
To end, this Bear Crossing gas station will always hold a special place in our family’s hearts, and we plan to be long standing customers ourselves for the new owner. It is our favorite gas station after all! Keep shopping local and continue to say this is your stop!
It has been an absolute pleasure for this Dunlavy family to serve this community by offering a local gas station/c-store as an option.
