Mason City Motor Speedway Recap

29 sprint cars and 192 total cars made for a great night of racing!

After drawing a 97 out of 100 (apparently inherited his dad’s drawing skills), Owen started 7th in his heat and charged to a 3rd-place finish to earn a redraw. A much better draw lined him up 3rd for the 25-lap feature.

The feature went caution-free, and as the track changed from a top groove to rubber on the bottom, Owen stayed committed to the top just a little too long. Once he moved down, he started tracking down 3rd, but heavy lap traffic made it tough to close the gap. He brought home a solid 4th-place finish.

Overall, a great night with good speed and another strong run. We’re considering heading south for a few more races before putting the car away for the season. We will update our schedule as soon as we have a few races picked out.

Owen Graf with Graf Motorsports has officially confirmed his plans to join the Sprint Kings at the Mason City Motor Speedway on October 17th presented by Farm Bureau Financial Services- The Adams Agency, Stellar Truck & Trailer, & Eagle Homes!

Graf showed plenty of speed at Chateau Speedway, taking the lead and holding the top spot for 16 laps even after losing his nose wing! Now he’s ready to bring that same determination to the Mason City high banks and take another shot at a Sprint Kings victory!

Arlington Raceway | October 3 Race Recap

Mother Nature made things interesting last night at Arlington as rain moved through right before hot laps, leaving the track extremely heavy and challenging.

Owen started 3rd in his heat race and finished 2nd. In the feature, Owen rolled off 7th and finished 7th. The heavy track conditions had the car too tight, making it difficult to race forward.

What a night at Chateau Speedway!

After two years away from racing, Chris finally got back in the seat and had the opportunity to race alongside Owen. Huge thanks to Ryan and Hannah for making it happen!

Heat Race
• Chris started 1st, finished 3rd
• Owen started 2nd and drove away with the win

Feature
• Owen started 3rd
• Chris started 8th

Owen was battling for 2nd when a caution flew, and contact while slowing for the yellow left him with a torn-off nose wing, a bent top wing, and a damaged Jacob’s Ladder. Most people would think his night was over.

He charged to the front, took the lead, and led most of the race! Unfortunately, the missing nose wing forced him to use the brakes much harder, causing them to overheat. With only a few laps to go, he lost brakes and settled for a hard-fought 3rd-place finish.

Chris put together a great run as well, charging from 8th to 4th and getting the chance to race side-by-side with Owen. But once again, the kid beat Dad!

Next stop: Fix It Forward Speedway in Fargo, ND tonight!
