What could be hiding on top of your RV?

This RV came into the shop for refrigerator work, but while we had it here, we gave the unit a look-over and discovered something that needed attention right away, a torn roof membrane with exposed plywood underneath.

That’s exactly why Mike stresses checking your RV over before winter storage, especially the roof, seams and seals.

Once moisture finds its way through an opening, sitting through a Wyoming winter can turn a manageable repair into a much bigger problem.

We were able to get this one temporarily patched and protected, and it’s now scheduled to come back for a full repair.

Before you put your RV away for the season, take the time to look it over or let us do it for you. Catching a problem before the snow, moisture and freeze/thaw cycles arrive can make all the difference.

Want to learn how to properly winterize your own RV?

Join Gillette RV Tech on September 26 & 27 for a hands-on RV Winterization Class where you'll learn the process on your own RV.

During your scheduled 2-hour appointment, you'll work alongside our technicians as they guide you through the entire winterization process. You'll learn not only what needs to be done, but why it's important and what to look for on your own unit.

We'll walk you through:
🔧 Inspecting roof and sidewall seals for potential issues before storage
💧 Draining tanks and the water system
🔧 Removing the anode and bypassing the water heater
💨 Blowing out the water system and water heater
💧 Checking, emptying and drying the pump suction screen
❄️ Adding RV antifreeze to drains and traps
🔧 Closing drains, replacing the anode and properly setting your system back up

Your pre-storage inspection is part of the winterization process, giving us a chance to identify potential issues before your RV is tucked away for the Wyoming winter.
Our technicians will guide you through what your particular RV needs so you can leave with a better understanding of your unit, confidence in the winterization process, and a plan to help make sure it's protected this winter and road-ready next spring.

Tail whip: the ultimate campsite hazard! 🫣

Whether it’s a tight turn around a bollard, a hidden stump, or a campground post, impact damage to the passenger side rear corner happens more often than you think. On this rig, it took out the siding, a door, and the awning arm.

The AC is fixed, the roof is sealed, and the crew is... striking a pose? 🧹😎

These three just wrapped up a job well done after tackling a crunched air conditioner and heavy overhead damage. We aren't winning any modeling contracts anytime soon (even with that tactical broom setup), but we will get your rig fixed right the first time.
