Lengthy read👇Save yourself thousands in oil leak repairs! A ccv reroute is the best way to prevent that!! Some clarity to the issue and solution will be found below ⬇️
From the factory, 6.7 powerstrokes run all the crankcase v***r back into the inlet of the turbo via a sealed ccv filter. Some years have a serviceable filter, others have a simple baffle. No matter the model year they all run high on crankcase pressure and run all that oil v***r right into the intake of the engine. These engines make a lot of blowby fresh out of the box. All of that blow-by (oil v***r) is trapped inside. Not only does that v***r gum up your engine, it is looking for a path out. Unfortunately, the path that it often takes to freedom is the upper oil pan seal. This happens to be a lengthy job to reseal. Which includes having to remove the transmission! The biggest drawback for owners when it comes to doing a ccv reroute kit is the visible and smelly oil v***r your saving your engine from. When vented to atmosphere like older diesel engines of the past, it can come in the windows. You see it, and smell it, mostly just when stationary. Idling in the drive through it’s annoying to have the Burger King employee look at you like your truck is broken. This is because a standard ccv reroute kit usually has the vent hose end by the transfer case on the drivers side, We do them a bit different with great results. They sell a fancy stainless venturi that you can put in, they seal sometimes. We prefer to keep it simple. Get rid of the ccv box, run a short hose from the engine down to the beginning of the exhaust where we weld a shaved pipe ni**le in at an angle. This helps pull all that blowby from the engine and the hot exhaust burns it up. By the time it gets to the tailpipe it’s all but gone. No oil in the intake, no visible oil v***r,no smell, best of all no oil leaks! Crawl under our trucks and you’ll find the same setup we have tested for thousands of miles. When it comes to 6.7 powerstrokes we can tell you what yields great results because we run these trucks hard ourselves! I enjoy doing write up’s like this and I may continue. Possibly make it a weekly thing. Thank you to all of our customers and supporters that allow this company to carry on!
