A streak is almost never a coating problem. It is a prep problem showing up late.

Here is the sequence.

Compound works its way into a panel gap, a trim edge, or an emblem surround during correction. You cannot see it. The panel looks clean and the gloss is there.

You apply the coating. The solvent reaches that trapped residue and dissolves it.

Now that dissolved compound has somewhere to go, and it goes outward across the paint, carried by the coating itself. As the coating cures, the residue cures into it.

By the time you see the streak it is not sitting on top of the finish. It is in the finish.

That is why the fix costs so much more than the prevention. Removing it means going back to correction on that panel and starting over.

Wash down properly after compounding. Panel wipe with clean towels. Check the edges under a light at an angle before you open the bottle.
