â ď¸ Thereâs been a lot of talk about boat blowers online lately, so hereâs a quick reminder!! If you have a gas inboard or I/O (sterndrive), your blower is there for a reason. Gasoline fumes can collect in the bilge, and all it takes is one spark when you turn the key.
Before you start your engine, run your blower for at least 4 minutes. If youâve just fueled up or your boat has been sitting for a while, itâs even more important. If you smell gasoline, donât start the engine until you figure out where itâsâs coming from.
Outboards generally donât have blowers, so this doesnât apply to every boat. It only takes a few minutes, but itâs one of the easiest ways to help keep you, your passengers, and your boat safe.
Have a safe week on the waterâď¸
