🏁 Outstanding Japanese Sports Car – Post ’72 🏁

Balanced, responsive, and built to perform—this is what a true sports car is all about.
Congratulations to Brandon Taylor of Gardner, Kansas, for earning Outstanding Japanese Sports Car – Post ’72 with his clean 1989 Nissan 240SX.

Representing the best in class, this award highlights a car that brings together style, handling, and undeniable driver appeal.

Known for its lightweight feel and track-ready potential, the 240SX is the kind of car that looks right at home out on the Lake Garnett course—dialed in and ready to carve corners all weekend long.

A perfect example of what makes a Japanese sports car stand out.

A big thank you to Gateway Classic Cars for sponsoring the 2025 Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival Car Show.

We’re excited to officially welcome the McPherson College Auto Restoration T-Build Team to Revival Row at the Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival, with two live performances Saturday afternoon, October 10.

When we say “build,” we mean build.

The team takes a disassembled Ford Model T and, working against the clock, turns a collection of parts into a running automobile in front of a live audience! McPherson College ’s student team has completed the feat in a matter of minutes. Rebuilding a piece of automotive history at that speed isn’t about rushing—it’s about knowing every bolt, every part, and every step by heart.

New for 2026, Revival Row is the social hub of the Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival: makers, merchants, food, music, demonstrations and plenty to see and do between the action.

This is just the beginning. We’re excited to start rolling out this year’s Revival Row lineup, with more vendors and surprises to be announced in the weeks ahead.

🏁 Not exactly subtle. But that’s the point.

Our new Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival camp shirt has arrived at the Grand Prix Mercantile, and there’s a whole lot of Grand Prix packed into this one.

Vintage racing imagery. Classic sports cars. Americana. Historic Lake Garnett references. Event artwork. It’s an all-over celebration of the people, cars and memories that have made the Grand Prix such a special tradition.

And it’s just ONE of the new items waiting for you in the Mercantile.
We’ve added a bunch of fresh LGGPR gear for 2026, including online-exclusive designs you won’t find at the event.

Best of all, there’s still time to order before October. Get your gear now and show up in Garnett already decked out and ready for Grand Prix weekend.

Whether you’re headed for the track, the car show, Revival Row, or all of the above, we’ve got something for you.

Putting the finishing touches on the Revival — thanks to Burdiss More Than Mail!

A proper motor race needs more than fast cars and willing drivers. You need posters to spread the word, signs to point folks in the right direction, and plenty of finishing touches to make the whole affair look first-rate.

That’s where our friends at Burdiss More Than Mail come in.

Once again for 2026, Burdiss is not only a sponsor but also handling the print marketing needs of the Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival, along with much of the event signage you’ll see throughout the weekend. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail help us put our best foot forward before the first engine ever fires.

And they can do the same for you! From professional printing and promotional materials to custom swag, merchandise, signage, and even race numbers for the side of your competition car, Burdiss can help turn an idea into something you’ll be proud to put your name on.

We’re mighty grateful to have them in our corner again for 2026.

So whether you’re promoting a business, outfitting an organization, or getting your sports car ready for its next race meeting, give the good folks at Burdiss More Than Mail a call.

Congratulations to Mannon Wallace of Andover, Kansas, for earning Outstanding Japanese Sports Car – Pre ’72 with his 1966 Datsun 1600 Sports. Light, nimble, uncomplicated, and built to be driven, these little Datsun roadsters helped introduce a generation of American enthusiasts to just how much fun a Japanese sports car could be.

And the year makes this one especially fitting. A 1966 Datsun 1600 would have been right at home during the original Lake Garnett Grand Prix era, when small-bore sports cars filled the paddock and spent their weekends doing what they were built to do.

Mannon is no stranger to Lake Garnett, either. He’s been a regular participant at the Revival for many years, and we always enjoy seeing him return to Garnett with another great car to enjoy alongside the rest of us.

More than half a century after it was built, his Datsun still captures the spirit of those early sports car days. And we can’t think of a much better place to celebrate it than Lake Garnett.

Congratulations, Mannon, on a well-deserved award.

A big thank you to Gateway Classic Cars of Kansas City for sponsoring the 2025 Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival Car Show.

An idea is one thing. Turning it into an actual event is something else entirely.

By January of 2014, the dream of bringing racing back to Lake Garnett was starting to get very real. Ten car clubs came to the table. Officers were elected. Jobs were handed out. And one man reached into his own pocket and put $1,000 on the table to help get things moving.

Suddenly, this wasn't just an idea anymore.

In Part 3 of Darren Traub's firsthand story of the Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival, meet some of the people who stepped forward in those earliest days and began turning a crazy idea into something that might actually work.

Every great race event depends on folks willing to lend a hand, and few have done more for the Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival than the Wittman family.

As our 2026 Presenting Sponsor, Wittman NAPA Auto Parts does far more than put its name on the event. Year after year, Kim Wittman and the entire Wittman family roll up their sleeves to help organize, coordinate, and keep race weekend running smoothly. Their dedication behind the scenes is just as important as their generous sponsorship.

And if you find yourself needing a part or supplies during the weekend, you're in luck. Wittman NAPA will be open Saturday during the Revival, ready to help get you back on the road. Be sure to stop in, tell them you're with the Revival, and thank them for helping keep this great tradition alive.

Here's to good neighbors, willing hands, and another fine weekend of sports car motoring in Garnett.
