We had a great turnout for our very first (annual?) river cleanup! BIG thank you to everyone who showed up and spent their morning with us. Special thanks to Ledyard Police Department & Providence & Worcester Railroad for keeping us all safe, and Save the Sound for overseeing our efforts. If you’re not waxing the section between your rub rail and bottom paint, you’re letting the sun and salt win.
That zone gets hammered every day — UV rays, scum lines, fenders rubbing, dock contact, and constant spray. When it’s dry and unprotected, the gelcoat becomes a sponge for oxidation and stains.

A good wax creates a hard, hydrophobic barrier that keeps the hull slick, reduces scum adhesion, and stops UV from cooking your gelcoat. It’s the difference between a hull that wipes clean in minutes… and one that needs hours of scrubbing.

Waxing isn’t cosmetic. It’s how you stop the most vulnerable part of your hull from aging before the rest of the boat.

Today we kicked off our 2026 launch season, and we couldn’t be prouder that the very first boat to hit the water belongs to the Ledyard Police Department.

These officers protect our community year‑round, and getting their marine unit ready to roll is something we take seriously. Here’s to a safe, successful season on the river — and to the men and women who keep it that way.

🔧 Meet Nic — Our Newest Technician at Gales Ferry Marina

Every marina needs people who aren't afraid to crawl into the tightest spaces, chase down the weirdest noises, and solve the problems nobody else wants to touch.
That’s Nic.

He joins us with years of mechanical experience, a sharp eye for detail, and the kind of “get it done” attitude that fits right in here. Whether it’s diagnostics, rigging, electrical work, or full‑on mechanical tear‑downs, Nic is already proving he’s the guy you want on your boat.

If you see a pair of boots sticking out of a bilge this week… that’s him.
And trust us — your boat is in good hands.
