Customer states: "I had a vibration, friend of a friend's mechanic looked at truck and determined u joints needed replaced. Replaced with very expensive u joints and now vibration is still there and worse than ever before, can't drive truck over 35mph without fear of catastrophic failure. Other friend said i should have you take a look."
Not to knock anyone's hustle getting out there and working for a dollar, but this just goes to show that not everyone should work on cars and a lot of, if not most "deep woods and backyard mechanics" as well as "mobile mechanics" are not certified nor experienced enough to trust your vehicle repairs to. The gap in this u joint and play when installed should have never left a shop or driveway or wherever the repair was performed. Not only did it damage the customers truck further but it is extremely unsafe to be going down the road. Fortunately, I was able to weld and machine the fl**ge back to spec to accept new correct u joints and get the customer back on the road, and back to work in a safe and reliable truck.
