Good morning everyone hope everybody had a wonderful weekend. It's time to get those mowers out get them serviced and ready to go. I did my first repower yesterday. I replace an engine on a S**g walk-behind. We do replace engines fabrication work and service and restoration. Here's some pictures from the job yesterday.

Tip of the day!!

The best way to change the oil in your push Mower is to flip it on its side with the air filter always pointing up. Drain in to oil pan. It is ok to let set like this for a few minutes. When you lay mower back down on all four wheels fill crankcase with the recommended oil. The average push Mower will hold 18-20oz.

Tip of the day!

Keep the blades sharp!! A good sharp blade will make your mower work more efficiently it will actually cut the grass compared to a dull blade that will rip the grass up and puts more of a load on the motor and other parts of the mower.

If you have a mower that is not cutting level the first thing to check is the air pressure in the tires. If that dose not fix it it could be a bent blade or check the deck linkage could be broken or bent.

Tip of the Day!

When you buy a new mower you want to make sure that you change your oil by 10 hours of use. This is called the break in period. You will have metal shavings in the oil you want to make sure to change the break in oil to get that out. Then change the oil at least once a season. This helps with the life of your mower.

What are the effects of ethanol fuel?

E10 fuels are approved for usage in lawn mowers and outdoor power handhelds like chainsaws, trimmers, and leaf blowers. Gas with higher concentrations of ethanol is not. Always refer to your owner's manual for the correct fuel to use.

While E10 fuels are approved for small engine equipment usage, it is not recommended, especially in handheld products. Gas with ethanol separates while being stored in your gas tank. The 2 stroke oil remains bonded to the gasoline but not to ethanol. Thus, the ethanol and water part of the mixture contains no oil for engine lubrication. This leads to poor lubrication, performance issues and costly repairs over time.

Ethanol will start to absorb water over time, leading to poor engine performance. E10 gas absorbs up to 50 times more water than standard gasoline. It is recommended that you replace gas in your fuel tank every 2-3 weeks to avoid alcohol and water related engine issues.

Ethanol is also an excellent solvent. Simply put, it will dissolve plastic, rubber, fiberglass and much more, potentially causing serious problems to small engines.

What are solutions to the ethanol problem?

Purchase ethanol free gas.

Good morning hope everyone is well!! It has been a busy spring I am very thankful for that. I am servicing a lot of mowers this year. Pull those old mowers out and get them serviced.
