🏁 Carolina Mini‑Z Cup Recap & Thank You 🏁

Finally getting a chance to sit down long enough to get a quick post out from the weekend. What an awesome couple of days of racing at the Carolina Mini‑Z Cup!

I can’t thank everyone enough for helping make this event such a success. We had that last‑minute hiccup with the venue change, but I think it worked out pretty well. Huge thanks to everyone for being so flexible and understanding!

It really warms my heart knowing how generous and caring this community is. With your donations and entry fees, we’ll be giving over $1,200 to the Baptist Grove Church Youth Group to support their missions and activities. 💛 Thank you all for making that possible!

So many people to thank!

The Racers – if we didn’t have the racers, we wouldn’t have a race! Thank you all for being a part of this hobby and for participating in the Carolina Mini‑Z Cup.
The Silver Horse Team – Danny Sanchez, Daniel Smith, San Colon, Joe Cotona, and Mike Cotona – you guys rock! I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many chairs moved that fast — and then all the chairs had to be moved back when we were done!
Mark & Colin K – you jumped in on the track setup, and with all those extra hands we had it ready faster than ever — even faster than our regular venue!
Mom & Dad – you guys are legends. The food, drinks, and snacks were amazing as always. I’m honestly starting to think people come for the food first and racing second! 😄
GTG Masters – thanks for attending and providing an awesome raffle item! You always support the hobby, and it’s so great to have people like you as part of it.
Fuquay‑Varina Baptist Church – thank you so much for letting us use the facility on such short notice.
As for the racing — wow. There were some incredibly close battles all weekend, and you could feel the excitement in the room every time a tight race unfolded. The Lipo 2500 A‑Main might’ve been one of the closest races I’ve ever been part of — I’ve already rewatched the video at least 10 times!

And speaking of Silver Horse RC...
A big welcome to Mike Cotona for officially joining the Silver Horse RC team! It’s like finally completing your baseball card collection — now we’ve got the Joe and Mike collectors set! 😂 Welcome aboard, Mike!

I’m sure I’m missing something — it’s hard to summarize an entire weekend in one post for people who probably have the attention span of a gnat 😄 — but it really was one of the best, if not THE best, Carolina Mini‑Z Cup to date.

For those who haven’t raced on a large track before, I hope you got a sense of how different the cars handle with wider lanes and faster sweepers versus our smaller, tighter tracks. This is one of the reasons the Carolina Mini‑Z Cup got started — for a few of us to be able to race on a larger track!

Thank you again to everyone for making this such an amazing event full of great racing, great people, and great memories. This hobby truly wouldn’t be what it is without all of you. ❤️

Friday: 1:45 pm to 4 pm
Sat: 7:45 am to 6 pm (should be all day)

📣 Important Venue Update — Carolina Mini-Z Cup 🏁

Due to tragic and unforeseen circumstances at our previously announced venue, we will be relocating the 2026 Carolina Mini-Z Cup to a new location.

📍 New Venue:
Fuquay Varina Baptist Church
301 N Woodrow St
Fuquay Varina, NC 27526

Please see the attached picture for parking and entry instructions:

When facing the church, park in the lot to the left (circled in blue).
Enter through the double doors (circled in red).
Once inside, turn right, then make a quick left into a large hallway.
Look to the right — at the end of that hallway is the large room where we’ll hold the race.
🕐 Schedule Reminder:
All times remain the same — no schedule changes, only a venue change.

We kindly ask everyone to help spread the word — share this with anyone planning to race, spectate, or attend. I’ll also be reaching out directly to as many participants as I can.

We deeply appreciate everyone’s understanding and flexibility. This last-minute change allows us to accommodate the other church during a difficult and unforeseen event. Thank you all for your compassion and cooperation. ❤️

🚫 Important Reminder:
Friday and Saturday track time is ONLY for registered and paid drivers.
There is no free practice on these days — practice is exclusively for those officially entered in the event.

🏁 Carolina Mini-Z Cup Update 🏁

With the current number of drivers and entries, it’s looking like we may be able to allow registration for a third class for those who want to run another class! 🎉

We’ll make the final call on race day (May 13th), but if you’re interested in running a 3rd class, go ahead and have one in mind when you arrive on Friday.

👉 Registration fee for 3rd class will be $10 in the youth group donation jar 😉

Now’s the time to get your cars dialed in and ask any setup or tuning questions during the RC Hobby Friday Night Race. Those of us running the event will be focused on keeping everything running smoothly and on schedule during the Cup weekend, so we won’t have much time for car work or troubleshooting then.

2 weeks! Get those last minute tunes and tweaks in, it's getting closer and closer! Make sure you're looking at the 28sra.com rules and your car will pass, we will be checking pinions, spurs, motors, bodies, wing heights, battery voltages, tires, blinky mode, ALL the things, make sure you're within the ruleset!!!
