I got the passenger side caught up to the drivers and decided to finish off the roof. I made brackets to tie the roof to the pillars, then made and installed the slats.

The drivers quarter panel is close to being finished. The cutouts for window channels and mahogany panels are done and the frame is glued together. The window channels are installed and the glass patterns are made. I had to make all the stainless edge trim and still have to invent some sort of latch, but that's tomorrows problem.

Inner and outer fenders are done on both sides including fuel fill. Roof bows are done. Working on windows, after the channels are cut for the glass and for the mahogany panels I will be able to glue the quarter panel frames together.

The wood around the outer fender on the drivers side is done. The steel will get trimmed back flush with the inside of the wood, an inside panel will cover it all except for the inner fender. The fuel fill is on the pasenger side, a straight shot would work better but with what I've got to work with this is the best I can do.

Both of the inner fenders are installed. The outers are where I want them to be, next step will be to build the wood frames around them. Still have to figure out the sliding window layout so I can cut the channels for those. A lot of work to do before I can glue the whole quarter panel together.

I have some of the wood pieces made for the quarter panels, but need to get the inner and outer fenders in place before I can go much farther. I have no idea what Cantrell used for inner fenders but I'm using reproduction Chevy pickup truck wheel wells.

Time for a roof. I have nothing left of the original so I am kinda winging it here. Most of the station wagon roofs were finished off pretty nicely, on some of the truck bodies they built a rather crude header and covered it with an upholstered panel, which I would rather not do. The shape of these pieces are such that carving them out of a finished piece of wood would be a monumental project. Instead, I make patterns out of scrap wood and bondo just to get the shape, then use my duplicating mill to copy them into blocks of Ash. The piece of wood above the header is a temporary brace to hold the correct shape in the sheet metal while I made the header pattern.

Looks like it's going to be slow in the shop next week, I've been directed to appear at the courthouse Monday morning for jury duty! I wonder what they'd say if I brought a little piece of wood to whittle on....

Now that the pillars are located it's time to permanently attach them to the truck and fill the holes inside of the back doors. I had to build brackets to support the steps inside of the doors, and will likely add a second one. I didn't have a lot to go by but I think this is at least similar to what Cantrell would have done.
