When getting your A/C recharged, the old refrigerant is replaced with a new refrigerant. By doing this, the A/C system will continue to distribute cold air and maintain a comfortable temperature. BRAKE CONTROVERSY - Machine the Rotors or Not Machine the Rotors

Hello Everyone, I'd like to share with you something I learned 15 years ago. It has saved my customers a lot of money.
At Complete Car Care, we do a fair amount of fleet vehicles. They can pile on the miles quickly.

If there is a pattern failure, we have to deal with those before most other shops.

One day, Dan came to me and said, "When I buy a new truck, the brake pads last about 35K miles.
When you perform a brake job, they last about 15K miles".

"I tried someone else with the same result".

We started by installing the factory's original brake pads with no improvement. We then noticed that when the brake rotors were also replaced, the brake pad wear improved to 35K miles again.

Machining brake rotors was the cause of premature brake pad wear. Debris from the cuttings lodged into the small pores in the metal rotor surfaces. It acted like sandpaper.

We no longer machine rotors even though we have a perfectly fine brake lathe. If the rotor surfaces look smooth and the rotor thickness is within speciation, we reuse them. If not, we replace it.

Also, every time a rotor is machined, it gets thinner and more susceptible to warpage. This procedure solved Dan's issue and we have suffered no adverse effects.
