I did the 30k mile service on the Tacoma last weekend except for flushing the brake fluid (next weekend!). This service included the is diffs, transfer case, transmission, clutch, engine, and power steering fluids. And the engine and cabin air filters.

This required dropping the skid plates which had a ton of playa mud and rocks up underneath. I power washed the mud off everything. And I used some Rust-Oleum to cover up all the scraped off powder coating. These skid plates have taken a real beating but they amazingly were easy to put back on and the bolt holes all lined up.

A couple weeks ago I got the tires rotated and aligned at so hopefully we'll be all good there considering I was having some uneven wear on the front tires.

The power bleeder arrived so I should be able to take care of the brake fluid flush this weekend without too much drama.

Winching around the abandoned BMW in the middle of Lippencott Pass Road in the Saline Valley back country of Death Valley National Park.

See a few posts back for photos of the carnage of that BMW.

There were some boulders on the side of the trail that were just big enough to hang up a stock Tacoma in a way where if I had tried to throttle out without the winch, I would have gone into the BMW and I couldn't back up because it was soft sand behind where I'd just get dug in and stuck. Good thing there was a big boulder on the other side of the trail at the right angle to help pull the front of the truck around and drag the Tacoma over the rock.

Heading up Goller Wash to the Barker Ranch where the Manson Family hid out and was finally apprehended. This is no longer an easy trail. There are a half dozen waterfall obstacles in the first mile that you have to know what you're doing and have good skid plates to get through with a stock truck.
