Direct injection engines are great for power and fuel efficiency! However, they do have a substantial drawback. Without the benefit of fuel being sprayed on the backside of the intake valves, like a traditional port injected engine, carbon buildup becomes a big problem!

Because of this inherent issue, manufacturers recommend having your intake valves cleaned every 30,000 to 60,000 miles!!
