Well I finally got back to the 400. Was going to do a dyno comparison of if you were to buy a set of swap meet aluminum heads and drop them on your engine. When I went to tear off the heads I decided to look at the lifters. Found two that didn't look like they were wearing right. So measured the cam and 2 lobes were .010 small. So I pitched the cam. I put in a roller with similar lift, duration and lobe separation but same centerline. Found a set cheap speedway aluminum heads, narrowed the guide boss, cleaned up the ports and bowls and then gasket matched them. Used 2.05 1.6 valves. The old heads had 2.02 1.6 valves and no port work. Here was the results of a afternoon of tuning. First pull was 406 hp, The old engine was 360 after tuning, and ended with 433 hp and 483 lb ft. This will be fun.
