Well I finally got back to the 400. Was going to do a dyno comparison of if you were to buy a set of swap meet aluminum heads and drop them on your engine. When I went to tear off the heads I decided to look at the lifters. Found two that didn't look like they were wearing right. So measured the cam and 2 lobes were .010 small. So I pitched the cam. I put in a roller with similar lift, duration and lobe separation but same centerline. Found a set cheap speedway aluminum heads, narrowed the guide boss, cleaned up the ports and bowls and then gasket matched them. Used 2.05 1.6 valves. The old heads had 2.02 1.6 valves and no port work. Here was the results of a afternoon of tuning. First pull was 406 hp, The old engine was 360 after tuning, and ended with 433 hp and 483 lb ft. This will be fun.

Hello everyone, due to outrageous utility bills combined with rent I will no longer be open during the winter. It is making it pointless for me to open and heat my space with not having a lot of customers during the winter. This will be starting this coming winter. Thanks Bryan

On Friday Paul and I ran his 468 on the dyno. Spent several hours tweaking and tuning. Was a good afternoon of playing around. Probably could of milked a few more hp but overall it did well for basically a swap meet throw together. Unfortunately I forgot to shoot a video.

This is why you should always surface your engine when you go to do your first rebuild. An engine heat cycles and causes the engine to shift the core around. That is what is called a seasoned block. Because of this the deck is no longer square. It may have highs and lows like this or it may be twisted.

This is why you always check your ring end gaps. This is an oil ring. All the oil rings had to be gapped. All of the second rings had to be opened up a little. And of course with hyper pistons also had to open up the top ring.

Forgot to get video of this early 273. Mild performance cam,4 bbl pistons, Weiand intake. 260 hp 282 torq. I did get 268 hp out of it but didn't have all the jets and needles to dial it in correctly and it idled to rich so put back larger needle. Will have customer put in a larger jet in back to get it back to 268.

Ran this 540 last Saturday right at 700 tq and 670 hp.

I can't believe I am saying this but I ran this 305 chevy this weekend. 336 tq 267hp. We had some problems with the edelbrock carb and the stock distributor. Owner will be replacing both. I am sure there is more there because it was still a little lean.
