That bubble on your tire isn’t just a cosmetic issue.

A tire bubble can be caused by impact damage like hitting a pothole, curb, or other road hazard. This impact can damage the internal cords and create a weak spot in the tire.

Unfortunately, tire bubbles cannot be safely repaired. Once the internal structure is compromised, the tire needs to be replaced.

If you see a bubble, DO NOT keep driving on it. A bubble can fail suddenly and without warning. Have the tire inspected and replaced as soon as possible.

Messy? Absolutely. Foamy? Definitely. But that beet juice is in there for a reason.

This is bio ballast (made from beet juice) and it’s used to add weight to tractor tires. That extra weight helps improve traction, stability, and pulling power. Plain water isn’t used in Colorado since it will freeze inside the tire during the winter.

So while pumping it out can get a little messy, that “mess” is doing an important job out in the field.

Would you patch this tire?

Tire repairs aren’t always as straightforward as they seem. This one had sidewall damage from being driven on while flat, so unfortunately, a patch wasn’t a safe option for the nail we removed.

Even though the puncture itself may look repairable, driving on a flat tire can cause hidden damage to the inside of the tire. In this case, patching it could have been extremely dangerous.

Even a racing slick needs to be properly balanced. This customer requested a spin balance which will help eliminate vibration and keep everything running smoothly when the RPMs go up.

PT. 2 of our 1920s split rim! A little piece of history getting a new lease on life.

This split rim was sandblasted and then we mounted a new tire and tube before carefully airing up in the tire cage.

Now it’s ready to head back to the museum and continue telling its story for another 100 years.

Ever wonder what wheels looked like nearly 100 years ago?

Today we’re removing a tire from a 1920s split rim. No modern wheel assembly here, just some old-school engineering and a piece of tire history.
